Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Velasco.
Hi Adriana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am missing one of the cities that I lived which is very very special to me and it’s Rome, Italy
Now back in the Americas, a Miami resident I started Primadonna my jewelry brand a little less than a year ago in the midst of the pandemic. What was a creative outcome quickly became a passion. Jewelry for me are not only accessories but an essential part of my wardrobe, I feel like the woman of today sees jewelry as a key piece in their outfits and it’s part of their personalities. Primadonna represents that exactly the freedom woman have today to wear the jewelry they feel wearing and that defines them, making them feeling empowered. There is no better place to be right now than Miami, the city is expanding and it’s so creative, as become the capital of Latin America, but so multicultural that it’s inspiring. Primadonna will definitely keep growing so keep an eye out!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in life it’s easy but I have enjoyed the process and that’s the most important. Many times I felt That was it but I kept ongoing and it’s paying off. As a small business owner, you compete with big brands but you have to stay focused and know your client base.
We’ve been impressed with Primadonna, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Primadonna has Latin American roots. I was born and raised in Ecuador so I have a line that is made by artisans and all the products are beaded and made by hand using the most precious stones and minerals. The brand also is known for its basics and gold esthetics, everyday pieces that will elevate any look from casual to elegant in an instant. The price point it’s also affordable, the point of the brand is that everyone is able to afford to wear it and it’s unisex.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I believe that a great concept can help you create a network that will differentiate you from all the other brands out there.
