Exploring Life & Business with Zoila of Peds & Trix, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoila.

Hi Zoila, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was first exposed to the pediatric therapy world as a teenager, and from that moment on, I felt a deep connection to my community and the families I knew I wanted to serve. That summer, I was given the opportunity to shadow an occupational therapist, and I remember walking into each session with a sense of wonder. I watched as therapy transformed into play, as challenges were turned into victories, and as families found hope in the smallest of steps. By the time fall came around, I knew in my heart that this was more than a career path—it was a calling I wanted to dedicate my life to.

I’ve realized this work is not just about skills or techniques. It’s about connection, presence, and courage. It’s about believing in the potential of every child, even when progress is slow. It’s about giving families hope when they are tired and overwhelmed. And it’s about showing up as your authentic self, because the way you make people feel will stay with them far longer than any milestone achieved in a session.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I want to say it still isn’t a smooth road, As a pediatric therapist, I often find myself walking the delicate line between advocacy and education. Advocacy means speaking up for children whose needs might otherwise be overlooked, whether in school, in healthcare, or even within their own families. At the same time, I am guiding parents through the often overwhelming world of developmental milestones, delays, and interventions. The challenge comes in translating clinical knowledge into language that feels approachable and supportive, while still honoring a parent’s emotions, values, and hopes for their child. There are moments when I must gently challenge misconceptions or navigate difficult conversations, all while ensuring families feel heard and respected. Though it can be demanding, it is deeply rewarding to see parents gain not only knowledge but also confidence in their child’s journey. Each small breakthrough in understanding becomes a shared victory—one that reminds me why this work is so meaningful.

As you know, we’re big fans of Peds & Trix, LLC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Peds & Trix, LLC, we are dedicated to helping children build the foundation they need to thrive—not just function. As a pediatric occupational therapy practice, we specialize in early intervention, sensory processing, and overall childhood development, with a strong focus on meeting children where they are in their unique journeys. What sets us apart is our neurological and hierarchy-based approach, grounded in the central nervous system and the natural progression of child development. By understanding the sensory system as the gateway to learning, we are able to support children holistically, blending clinical expertise with a multidisciplinary perspective that looks at the child as a whole.

We also strongly believe in a preventative approach—something that can feel a little controversial in the therapy world, but has proven time and again to make a powerful difference in how children flourish. By supporting children before struggles become barriers, we can help families feel more confident, ease frustrations, and set kids up for long-term success.

Above all, our mission is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where children and families feel supported rather than pressured. We believe growth should be empowering, not intimidating. Our work focuses not only on building functional life skills but also on helping children reach a thriving level of participation—in school, at home, and in the community. We are most proud that our brand represents compassion, innovation, and empowerment, creating a bridge between clinical knowledge and real-life application. Families who come to us know they are not alone; they are part of a collaborative process that celebrates progress in every form.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Stepping into this profession—or into the world of business—can feel both exciting and overwhelming. You may question your path, your abilities, or whether you are “enough.” Let me reassure you: you are. Every great clinician, every strong woman in business, every advocate who makes a difference once stood exactly where you are now—uncertain, hopeful, and filled with the desire to help.

As an occupational therapist and a woman in business, I’ve learned that our greatest strength lies not in having all the answers, but in staying curious, compassionate, and courageous. It takes bravery to speak up for a child, to advocate for a family, or to stand firm in your vision when others don’t fully understand it yet. It takes heart to keep showing up, even on the days that feel heavy. But those moments of persistence are the ones that shape you into the leader, healer, and innovator you are becoming.

Remember that success doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from connection. The way you make families feel safe, the way you empower a child to try again, the way you bring your own voice into your practice—these are the things that matter most. Never underestimate the power of your perspective or your passion.

This is a profession and a community that desperately needs your voice, your perspective, and your heart. Don’t underestimate the power of your presence. Don’t minimize the impact of small, everyday victories. And never forget that growth takes time—not just for the children and families you serve, but for you as well.

So keep moving forward with grace and grit. Lean into community, celebrate the small victories, and trust that you are planting seeds of change that will grow in ways you may not even see yet. You are not just building a career—you are building a legacy of impact, love, and possibility.
