Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Laurent
Hi Vanessa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was raised right here in Miami in a strict Haitian household, where I lived with my grandmother. She made countless sacrifices to ensure I had everything I needed, and through it all, she instilled in me one of the most important lessons: work hard to build your own future that way you don’t have to rely on anyone. I took those words to heart and applied relentless determination. Despite the challenges and peer pressures I faced growing up in Miami, I graduated at the top of my class from Miami Edison Senior High School, and went on to earn my degree from the University of Florida.
After graduation, I began my career in property management, and today, I’m working as a Customer Success Manager for a Property Management software company. While I’ve made significant strides in my career, I knew I wanted more—I wanted to create something for myself. I always traveled a lot especially in college. I want to see more of the world and explore different cultures. During my travels, people often asked me to help them plan their trips, and that’s when the idea of starting my own travel agency was born.
In December 2023, I officially launched *Alluring Luxe Destinations*, a full-service travel agency. I specialize in planning group trips, honeymoons, girls’ trips, and more, offering unique experiences in destinations across the globe—from Japan and Mexico to Jamaica, Dubai, Costa Rica, Thailand, and Europe. To date, I’ve booked over $120,000 worth of travel, and I’m just getting started.
I consider myself a serial entrepreneur, and in July 2024, I took the leap and launched a clothing brand, *THE NESS LABEL*. Shopping is one of my passions, especially when I’m preparing for a vacation, and I wanted to create a brand that reflects my love for fashion and travel. The journey is just beginning, and I’m excited for what’s to come.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been easy, not by any means. From the start, I was surrounded by influences that could have easily led me down the wrong path. But everything changed in 10th grade when I joined College Summit, an organization dedicated to helping inner-city kids prepare for college. It completely shifted my mindset and gave me the drive to turn my life around. It sparked a sense of ambition in me to work harder and be better every single day. I also made a conscious effort to surround myself with like-minded people who could push me to reach my full potential. From that point on, I’ve been unstoppable. I don’t take no for an answer—I always find a way. I keep going everyday no matter how hard it gets.
However, my biggest struggle to date has been something that might sound a little contradictory: myself. Over the years, I’ve dealt with imposter syndrome. There have been times when I found myself in spaces where I didn’t feel like I belonged, accomplishing things that people who looked like me didn’t often accomplish. Even now, when I reflect on some of my achievements, I still can’t believe how far I’ve come. It’s so important that we never dim our own light, because there will always be others ready to try and do it for us. We owe it to ourselves to shine as brightly as we can.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My very first mentor was someone I met through the Big Brother Big Sister program in high school at Ryder Truck Headquarters. She had such a huge impact on my senior year in high school, especially when it came to making some of the most important decisions of my life. I was terrified to apply to schools outside of Miami, including the University of Florida, because I was afraid to step out of my comfort zone. But she encouraged me to push past my fears and apply to schools beyond my hometown, as well as a wide range of scholarships. She is so smart, confident and a total boss babe!! She was the mentor I didn’t even know I needed, and I’m forever grateful for the role she played in my growth.
When searching for a mentor, it’s important to find someone who leads by example and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo. Your mentor should have life experiences that resonate with your goals and ambitions, and who can provide the guidance and perspective you need. For me, what has worked best is putting myself in spaces where I can naturally connect with those individuals—people who inspire me, challenge me, and push me to be the best version of myself. It’s about finding those who can see potential in you, even when you can’t see it in yourself.
