Exploring Life & Business with Taylor Mayfield of Mayfield Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Mayfield.

Hi Taylor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a family business owned by my dad, Lonnie Mayfield called Mayfield Construction.

He is the reason I have spent my entire life chasing my dream of being my own boss, creating something of my own, and helping others along the way. I began my own photography business in high school – way back in 2008. I shot my first wedding in 2010 and from that moment at 17 years old, I knew I did not want to be a wedding photographer. IYKYK. Photography has always been my side hustle, but I wanted to utilize it in a more creative way.

From 2014-2023 I worked in the dental field as an assistant bringing confidence back to patients through their smiles. I absolutely loved what I did, but I constantly kept chasing my dream of being a business owner. Mayfield Marketing was my side hustle for about 5 years before I finally turned in my resignation letter to my boss. On June 28, 2023, I decided to take my business seriously and have been full-time working for myself ever since.

Now it is my goal to help new and small businesses turn their side hustles into their full time powerhouse. I want to make sure each business I work with succeeds and never looks back at their old 9-5 jobs. Quitting your “regular job” is merely just the beginning, but with a lot of time, perseverance, passion, and coffee; you can be living on your own terms.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. My business was just a “side hustle” for 5 years before I was able to finally go full time with it. Aside from that, in 2024, I moved to a new state across the country from Colorado to Florida. I had to start completely over, rebuilding my clientele and networking with new businesses to begin to grow in my new home state. It took a whole year before I really started to build again, but it was so worth it!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mayfield Marketing?
Mayfield Marketing is a full-service marketing, content creation, and web development agency dedicated to helping businesses build brands that people actually connect with. We specialize in social media management, content creation, branding photography and videography, website design, SEO, email marketing, and digital strategy.

What sets us apart is that we don’t believe in “just posting content.” Every piece of content, every website, and every marketing campaign is created with intention. Our goal is to help businesses become the obvious choice in their industry by building authority, trust, and visibility across every platform where their audience spends time.

We work with a wide range of clients, from medical practices and aesthetic providers to service-based businesses, entrepreneurs, and personal brands. Because our team understands both creative storytelling and business strategy, we’re able to bridge the gap between beautiful content and measurable results.

What we’re most proud of is the relationships we’ve built with our clients. Many of them have trusted us for years because we become an extension of their team—not just another marketing vendor. We take the time to understand their goals, their audience, and what makes their business unique.

At Mayfield Marketing, we’re passionate about helping brands find their voice, stand out in crowded markets, and create content that not only looks great but drives real growth. Whether we’re developing a website, producing video content, managing social media, or building a long-term marketing strategy, our mission is simple: help businesses show up confidently and consistently online.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I have several favorite childhood memories with different people, but the first one that comes to mind is Christmas in 1998. My dad woke me up at about 4:00 in the morning to tell me that Santa was in our house. I didn’t believe him at the time until I got out of bed and witnessed what I thought was the real Santa. Looking down the hallway in our home, I saw a very tall and large man going back and forth between our kitchen and living room. Although we couldn’t see both room visibly from my bedroom door at the end of the hallway, I could still see that he was eating the cookies and drinking the milk I had left out for him and also unpacking presents from his magic bag and putting them under our tree. When he was finished, he left out our front door. (We didn’t have a fireplace for a chimney) I raced down the hallway to see where he was headed, and to my surprise he got into a pickup truck and drove away. At the time I lived in Missouri and there was no snow, so my dad convinced me that Santa needed to drive to deliver presents that year. Later on, I found out that wasn’t really Santa, but a family member. Even though it wasn’t real, I applaud my dad for still trying to keep me believing at the time. Such a fun memory! haha
