Exploring Life & Business with Sophie Ayad of THE POOLCLUB MONACO LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophie Ayad

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Poolclub Monaco is an innovative retail concept that was founded in Monte Carlo, but soon thereafter deployed to the United States, with its flagship location in Miami Beach, FL. Since 2018, The Poolclub Monaco, or The Poolclub for short, has controlled a large segment of the women’s boho e-commerce market.

At heart, The Poolclub’s goal is to hand select the finest and highest quality women’s resort wear, always prioritizing timeless and effortless elegance as well as avant-garde designers. From timeless wardrobe essentials to sophisticated bohemian outfits and luxurious beachwear, The Poolclub Monaco aspires to be a one-stop-shop for e-commerce aficionados that want quality and understand value. As such, it is our company’s mission to remain competitively priced in a world of oh-so-many bargains.

At the center of this operation lies our visionary, founder and able President, Frenchwoman Sophie Ayad. Born in Munich and raised between the U.S. and Europe, Sophie has a 30-year history in the industry that started in Munich, and ultimately ended in Miami. Her exceptional eye for hip garments began selling vintage American Levi’s 501 jeans to the exploding cosmopolitan German youth in the late 80s, to more sophisticated concepts in recent years. This includes well-known brands such as TKEES, Stoney Clover Lane, Solid & Striped, Elena Makri Mykonos, Maiami Berlin, 9Seed and Hansine London who she has longstanding relations with.

The result of this backstory is a vibrant collection of products designed to suit the needs of modern, voguish and warm temperature-seeking clientele. Our company is centered around a small team ready to expedite your orders and respond to your questions actively.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We started out in a residential neighborhood in Sunset Harbor on Miami Beach in 2018. Being a seasonal city with locals often leaving for summer we decided to move into a 5 Star Hotel, the W South Beach, to be able to cather to locals and tourists that since Covid increasingly travel to Miami even in so called off-season.This turned out to be a great business decision, as we now have an amazing mix of international clients.
30% our clientele is from Europe currently and we do great out of state tourists. Adding an online store helped us grow internationally and we ship worldwide.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I started as a buyer for several high end stores and resorts in Europe in the early 90ties. I also had two boutiques in Munich, Germany in the 90ties and we were buying an imorting prét-a-porter from the legendary sentier in Paris. speaking English, French, Italian and German fluently has certainly helped me working cross borders. I also have significant experience in production and I therefore have a deep understanding about fabrics and quality. waht really sets us apart from others is that we only carry first class brands that only produce the finest materials. Additionally to that we handpick our clothing and buy smaller quantities and have several deliveries weekly. We offer a first class and white clove service to our international clientele who entrusts us in choosing pieces that actually suit them.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
We custmize service and are able to offer fashion consulting that goes beyond usual boutique settings. We also offer memberships.
