Today we’d like to introduce you to Shells Kava Bar. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Jared and Heather met at the first kava bar to open state-side in 2002. After sharing many kava shells together over the years and starting a family together, we thought it would be nice to share the wonderful memories and experiences we had with those who have yet to hear about Kava or those looking for a new place to go. Thus, in 2017, we created Shells Kava Bar, Lauderhill’s Relaxation Destination, and West Broward’s first kava bar.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“Rome wasn’t built in a day.” While the concept of opening a kava bar seems like a fun and interesting opportunity, there were many challenges along the way. These include building a new customer base with a product most people in the area were unfamiliar with, staffing concerns, supply issues, and of course the few years during the pandemic. While managing all of this as well as raising our amazing son, who was one year old when we opened, we stood strong and made it through. Shells Kava Bar is still going strong and growing and we will continue to do so.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Shells Kava Bar is Lauderhill’s Relaxation Destination and West Broward’s first kava bar.
While we serve a wide range of healthy and relaxing products, Kava is our main focus. Kava is a black pepper plant root from the South Pacific, places like Tonga, Fiji, and Vanuatu which is where our kava comes from. The root is mixed with water, strained and served in a bar-type atmosphere. We are known to have the best kava you can find in Broward.
What sets us apart from the other kava bars is our kava. We have learned from the best and make all of our kava out front in the bar so everyone can see and ask questions. Our knowledge base on kava and our willingness to explain in great detail exceeds most people’s expectations. The bar itself is also a very important piece to the whole vibe. Shells Kava Bar is a peaceful friendly environment where you can bring a book, bring a laptop, bring a friend, or just visit us by yourself and you will have a very nice relaxing time.
