Exploring Life & Business with Shari Alhashemi of Pink Wasabi Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shari Alhashemi.

Hi Shari, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hard to be brief! I’m leaving a lot out here πŸ™‚ I’m originally from New York City and Central New Jersey, and I moved to South Florida at 18 to attend Nova Southeastern University. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Speech-Language Pathology, but even while I was pursuing that path, I knew creativity was my true foundation. I’ve been creating and designing since childhoodβ€”it’s always been my natural outlet.
In 2011, I launched Pink Wasabi as a small boutique where I curated accessories and statement pieces. Even the name had a personal meaning: at the time, I had two adopted rescue pups named Sushi and Wasabi. Sushi always wore a pink collar, so the combination of β€œPink” and β€œWasabi” felt playful, unique, and very me. I didn’t know it then, but that name would eventually evolve into something much bigger.
By 2014, Pink Wasabi began transitioning from retail into creative direction and event design. My passion for aesthetics and experience-building kept pulling me deeper into the world of events, and I realized this was where I truly thrived.
That evolution inspired me to open Wasabi Studio Miamiβ€”a creative studio and event space in Wynwood. It was the first place where I wasn’t just hosting events; I was fully planning, designing, and styling them. Wasabi Studio became the incubator for my creativity and the launchpad for everything that followed.
Along this journey, my personal life was growing, too. I met my husband in 2010, and we married in 2017. In 2021, we welcomed our daughter, who completely shifted my perspective and fueled my desire to build a business that allowed me to stay creative while also being present for her.
Today, what started as a boutique has grown into three sister brands, each representing a different side of my creativity and skill set:
Pink Wasabi Events – my luxury, high-touch event brand known for bold, immersive, highly detailed designs. This is where I get to stretch creatively and create experiences that feel unforgettable.
Blush Events – an accessible event brand offering beautiful design and planning at more attainable price points. Blush allows me to serve a broader audience without compromising style or quality.
PINK. Marketing & Activations – my B2B-focused brand dedicated to experiential marketing, brand activations, and creative production for corporate clients. It marries creativity with strategy and lets me work on impactful campaigns.
Together, these brands allow me to touch every area I’m passionate aboutβ€”design, storytelling, hospitality, experience creation, and community.
My journey hasn’t been traditional, but every pivotβ€”from psychology to fashion to eventsβ€”was rooted in following what felt authentic. Everything I’ve learned along the way, combined with the support of my husband and the inspiration of my daughter, has shaped the business I lead today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worth having comes easily. I’ve experienced a failed business partnership, and I even dipped my toes into being a corporate girlyβ€”still within the event spaceβ€”but the environment felt especially toxic and unsupportive as a working mom. Those misalignments, while emotionally and financially draining, ultimately gave me the confidence to make bold moves and take risks that I’m still in awe of today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At its core, my work is all about creating experiences that feel unforgettable. Through my three sister brandsβ€”Pink Wasabi Events, Blush Events, and PINK. Marketing & Activationsβ€”I get to bring ideas to life for clients across different styles, needs, and industries.
Pink Wasabi Events is my luxury event brand, known for bold creative direction, immersive aesthetics, and highly detailed design. Clients come to Pink Wasabi when they want something that feels artful, elevated, and completely custom. No two events ever look the sameβ€”that’s something I’m really proud of.
Blush Events was born from the desire to make beautiful, thoughtfully designed events more accessible. It offers planning, styling, and rental options at approachable price points, without compromising on quality or creativity. Blush allows a wider audience to experience elevated design without the luxury price tag.
PINK. Marketing & Activations is our B2B-focused arm dedicated to brand activations, experiential marketing, and creative production. Here, we collaborate with companies to design experiences that connect, inspire, and leave an impactβ€”whether it’s an activation, product launch, or branded experience.
What sets us apart is our creativity and our intentionality. Every project is approached with storytelling in mindβ€”what should guests feel, what’s the mood, what’s the message, what moment will they remember a year from now? We don’t just design events; we design feelings. And that emotional, sensory layer is a huge part of our signature.
I’m also proud of the fact that we’re a boutique, women-owned business that blends artistry with operations. We take on a limited number of projects so that every client feels supported and every detail gets the attention it deserves. Our team pours heart, strategy, and imagination into everything we create.
For readers who may be discovering us for the first time:
We offer event planning, design, styling, rentals, floral design, brand activations, and creative direction. And no matter the service, our goal is always the sameβ€”to create experiences that people truly feel.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is creating a positive impactβ€”both in the lives of the people I work with and in the world my daughter is growing up in. Becoming a mother shifted everything for me. It made me more intentional, more present, and more committed to building something that goes beyond aesthetics or business success.
I want my work to feel meaningful. Whether it’s designing an event that brings people joy, mentoring another woman in the industry, supporting fellow creatives, or simply showing up with kindnessβ€”I’m always thinking about how my actions ripple outward. The event space can be high-pressure and fast-paced, but I believe it can still be rooted in empathy, collaboration, and respect.
At the end of the day, what drives me is knowing that my daughter is watching. I want her to see a world where women lead with creativity, integrity, and heartβ€”and I want to play even a small part in creating that environment. If I can build businesses that uplift others and create moments of beauty, connection, and joy, then I’m contributing something positive to the world she’ll inherit.
That’s what matters most to me: leaving things better than I found them, even in the smallest ways.
