Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Sklar

Hi Rose, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My real estate journey began in New Jersey in 1989 at the age of 25, working with Weichert Realtors. I initially came from a catering sales background as a manager at a country club, where I found that my skills in managing events and delivering exceptional client service transferred smoothly into real estate. Selling a home, like planning a wedding, requires attention to detail, high energy, and the ability to build trust with clients during pivotal life moments.
In 2001, my husband Dean and I decided to relocate to Florida, seeking a warmer climate and new opportunities. With my real estate experience and Dean’s background as a PGA golf professional and small business owner, we joined forces to co-found The Sklar Team. Over the past two decades, we’ve built a strong presence in South Florida, consistently securing top accolades. We’re honored to be recognized as Coldwell Banker’s No. 1 Large Team in Broward County for six consecutive years, with over $2 billion in career sales.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Real estate is simple, but it’s certainly not easy. In the beginning, it took a lot of hard work and grit. Over time, we’ve had to refine our systems, create structured schedules, and prioritize mandatory time off to prevent burnout. One unique challenge of working as a family is that work discussions can easily take over. We even have a special code word to remind each other to “turn off work mode” – though we don’t always succeed!
As our team grew, we divided responsibilities to play to our strengths. I focus on client acquisition, marketing, networking and Public Relations, while Dean manages contracts and logistics, and our son Cody handles operations and technology. Despite the challenges, our dedication to delivering exceptional service to our clients is what keeps us motivated.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Rose and Dean Sklar Team?
We operate like a boutique agency but with the backing of Coldwell Banker, a global leader. Our team is highly hands-on, and we offer a complete suite of real estate services. Personally, I specialize in Renovation Assistance and serve as a national spokesperson for Coldwell Banker’s RealVitalize program, which supports sellers in making impactful renovations upfront with no immediate costs.
One of the aspects I love most about our business is hosting community-focused events, from new construction open houses to our annual Cookie Exchange, which supports the local children’s hospital. “Socializing is my life,” and it’s through this community engagement that we create memorable experiences for clients and connections that last.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking has been foundational for my career. Early on, I was a founding member of the Broward Professional Alliance, a think tank with clients and friends from all connected areas of the real estate industry. . I also attend industry conventions, often as a panelist, and regularly write articles to share insights. Being actively involved in the community – from board memberships to supporting local causes – has also been invaluable. My advice: Create spaces for authentic connections and seek mentors who embody the values and work ethic you admire.
