Hi Roman, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’m the third generation of LAZARO. My family’s business that handcrafts luxury leather goods, including Women’s & Men’s Bags, Duffel Bags, Backpacks, Briefcases, Wallets, Small Leather Goods, Slings & Crossbodies, and more! Since 1948. My grandfather, named Lazaro, founded the business in 1948 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After several years of success, my father Jorge entered the business in the 80s.
LAZARO grew exponentially since then in Argentina, and is currently in the top 3 in the leather bags industry, with over 17 stores in the most prestigious malls all over the country. In 2021, we launched our website in the U.S. and grow here as well, we now have a showroom in Latitude Building in Brickell, Miami in which people can come and buy and see/touch our Argentine leather goods, and also the website www.lazaroleather.com to sell all over the U.S. and worldwide also!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s not been a smooth road but it hasn’t been a very tough one either. Each business has its challenges, for us, knowing and being used to being known and famous in Argentina, and then arriving in the U.S. with no one or very few people knowing about us was difficult to assume.
Also, competition is high here, both for the Men & Women’s market, we’re one block from the City Center Mall, where all the big and famous brands are, but we manage to bring our target audience to the showroom and we know there’s an audience that values more the product rather than the name in the logo. We have a great leather product at a very friendly price.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The fashion industry is always at the top. It’s an industry that navigated through every crisis/recession, people always want to look good and own a valuable quality accessory.
In personal business matters, we see ourselves growing our brand and gaining some market share and we want Lazaro to be famous not only in Argentina but also in the U.S. and worldwide. Miami is a great and beautiful city to start, it grew and will keep growing a lot, and being here to see it and participate in this growth is exciting and a great challenge for us!
