Today, we’d like to introduce you to Roberta Caputo.
Hi Roberta, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
After graduating from college, I parlayed my valuable education by climbing the ranks as the first and youngest International Marketing and Sales Manager at San-O Industrial Corp. During this 4-year period of international travel, I secured new multi-year contracts for the company, which included IT&T, Olivetti, GE, Qume Caribe, and GTE. From there, I transitioned to Corning Glass Works until that division was sold. My next position was at Jaco Electronics, a $500,000,000 company, where I again quickly became the top-selling salesperson in the corporation.
My family and I relocated to Florida, where I opened my own national rep firm, Aldan Electronics, representing top-tier Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) contract assembly houses, electronic distributors, packaging houses, and semiconductors. Anticipating a change in market conditions when Motorola closed over 300,000 square feet of manufacturing space along with other prominent clients and outsourced it to Asia, my entrepreneurial spirit and business instinct prompted me to identify new business opportunities that would utilize my finely honed sales and marketing abilities and fulfill my fascination with all things concerning business!
While researching new opportunities, I discovered the Business Brokerage industry. I fell in love with the idea of helping people achieve the American Dream of taking their careers into their own hands through business acquisition and ownership while assisting business owners in their journey to financially divest themselves of the company’s financial windfalls that they had successfully created.
I was recruited to join Empire Business Associates, Inc. and received the first and only “Business Broker of the Year Award” out of forty offices. In 2007, along with three hand-selected partners, Capital Business Solutions opened. I was the President and Trainer. The company expanded to 46 offices. Seeing an opportunity to create a more successful business model with my brand, in 2010, I exited the partnership with the intent of developing a unique, boutique firm with a team approach that specialized not in feet on the street but service quality, experience, ethics, and professionalism gleaned during my tenure in corporate America.
My philosophy of giving back to the community encompassed my professional community. In addition to being a member of Nova Southeastern University’s Ambassador’s Board, I have been an Executive of the Business Brokers of Florida (BBF) for two decades. I am also the proud recipient of the exclusive BBF Chairman’s Award, a multi-year winner of the state’s Top 50 Dealmaker Award, and a 19-year annual winner of the Million Dollar Plus Award. Prior to my participation in the Business Brokers of Florida, I was Treasurer of the Florida Business Brokers Association (FBBA) South District. I am also an IBBA Affiliate Council member of the IBBA Affiliate Council and CSBA (Certified Senior Business Analyst).
I am also a published Author of a thirty-hour course being sold by Kaplan and Dearborn Universities on Business Brokerage, Presenter, & Materials Expert and University presenter for Kaplan and Dearborn University.

Let’s dig deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Throughout my career, I faced challenges as a female businesswoman in male-dominated industries. Despite this, I successfully navigated the workspace and have achieved great success in all my business endeavors. I accepted the fact that inorder to prevail, I would have to work and study harder and outperform my male counterparts to receive comparable compensation and recognition. I always sought out a mentor to help guide and further educate me. I have consistently attempted to do the same to help others whenever possible.
My commitment to performing at the highest ethical and professional standards has resulted in over two decades of business brokerage excellence, captioned with the highest honors and reputation.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’m a Long Island native, from Sag Harbor to Rockville Centre, growing up in a very close-knit family. I was surrounded by powerhouse women who taught me I could do whatever I set my mind to.
When it was time to enter high school, my father relocated our family to Haiti, where he ran a components factory. This experience exposed me to various cultures from around the world.
After being awarded an academic scholarship to attend Long Island University, CW Post Campus, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with interdisciplinary degrees in International Marketing and Economics.
