Today we’d like to introduce you to Perla Peralta.
Hi Perla, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my career in the experiential marketing industry almost by pure luck.
My older sister had just gone off to college when one of her agencies called our home, phone lines were still a thing, and I picked up. They needed her help for an event at a local grocery store promoting Hallmark greeting cards but unfortunately she had moved out of state for college. I was fifteen at the time but the agency was really desperate, lucky for me, and asked if I would be willing to help them cover this short 4hr shift that upcoming weekend. I checked with my dad who volunteered to take me and hang out in the plaza while I worked.
It was so exciting, and the pay was not bad either, from that weekend forward I have worked in the experiential field in one way or another. I started as a brand ambassador doing in-store samplings and demonstrations but have since had the chance to travel the states with a team of amazing marketers juggling grueling hours and logistical acrobatics to now owning my own agency where I get the chance to provide amazing opportunities for future generations of experiential marketers and brands.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The world of experiential is constantly evolving, following and setting new trends, its seasonality is also something one has to balance but the biggest challenge in all of it has been the major shut down of the industry as a whole during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Experiential Marketing is face to face marketing, it involves being in the same room as your audience, this was impossible to do during the pandemic for obvious reasons. However, with the shut down, the need for this kind of immersive experience became more and more evident. As the world opened back up what we all wanted was to see each other, and not across the computer screen but in person. Our biggest challenge ended up being our biggest advocate as our industry feared extinction and instead was given a second life, bigger than it was before.
We’ve been impressed with Peralta Experiences LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Peralta Experiences is an experiential marketing agency specializing in event staffing and event production. What sets us apart is our viewpoint on the full event. We have been the staff on the other side of the demo table, and we have hired agencies to help us run events and at every level what we have learned is that everyone plays a crucial part in the success of a campaign. We prioritize the treatment of our staff and clients above anything else. We are a human-first agency.
If you are not familiar with experiential marketing (or think you’ve never heard of it) let me give you some examples.
The woman at your local grocery store asking you to try your favorite brands newest product is part of an experiential marketing campaign.
The car brand at the Auto Show allowing you to take test drives around a closed course…that’s an experiential marketing campaign.
Every time you see a brand out at an event or throwing an event itself, it is a type of experiential marketing campaign, and we at Peralta Experiences are here to help facilitate that event whether it is helping the brand make the event come to life or helping a fellow agency secure the staff they need to make their event shine for their client.
We are an extension of your brand or agency while always putting the human experience first.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The biggest shift I see for our industry is a bigger focus on more immersive and personalized experiences.
It is not just about freebies anymore, it’s about how does that product fit my life? fit me? What will brands do to stand out to the individual and not the masses? That’s where the shift will be, making your brand feel personal.
