Exploring Life & Business with Paxton Terris of ILandMiami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paxton Terris.

Hi Paxton, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It started as a pretty simple idea and concept: build floating, navigable heliboats (essentially mobile helipads) designed for helicopters. From the beginning, we wanted to take that idea and make it much bigger and more impactful

We decided to take that original concept and completely re-engineer it. Larger platforms, stronger structures, higher load capacity, and far more refined engineering so we could safely support corporate helicopters and the much larger aircraft that ultra-high-net-worth individuals actually fly.

From there it evolved into a full luxury marine and aviation transfer service focused on safety, privacy, discretion, and seamless execution for the highest-end clients. That’s the business we operate today at ILandMiami.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a wild road with plenty of twists and turns, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding.

From day one we were focused on building the absolute best product possible in a completely nascent industry. This is something that had never really been done before at this level, that meant a long and intensive process of R&D, engineering, and navigating a complex regulatory landscape.

We took the time to do it the right way. We dotted every i and crossed every t to make sure the vessel, the operations, and the safety standards were exactly where they needed to be. It wasn’t the fastest path, but it was the only one that made sense for the kind of service we wanted to deliver.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about ILandMiami?
ILandMiami is a luxury aviation transfer service built for ultra-high-net-worth clients and corporate aviation. We specialize in seamless helicopter transfers to virtually any destination the client wants, whether that’s a residence, a yacht, or another private location. We’re also the manufacturer and engineer of the custom MUV (Marine Utility Vessel) platforms that make those transfers possible.

Instead of sitting in Miami’s heavy traffic for an hour or more, clients can bypass the roads entirely. What is normally a long car commute becomes a 5–10 minute flight that lands directly on one of our purpose-built MUVs, followed by a short tender ride on a VanDutch 40 to their final destination.

These aren’t modified boats with a helipad added on. They are purpose-built vessels we designed and engineered from the ground up for this exact use case, with serious R&D, naval architecture, and regulatory work behind them. We operate with an extreme focus on safety, privacy, and discretion.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we built something that hadn’t been done at this level before, and that we refused to cut corners to get there. Everything we do is designed to feel effortless, secure, and completely private for the clients we serve.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
When they said Rome wasn’t built in a day, they were absolutely right.

To build something special it takes time, patience, and the willingness to do the unglamorous work. That same principle also applies to anything in life.

In our case, that meant years of engineering, testing, and fine tuning before the service could operate at the level we wanted.

We could have rushed the process and reached the market faster, but it wouldn’t have met the standard our clients expect. We’re extremely intentional with everything we do on the service side and aim for perfection on every single flight.
