Hi Ogechi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This is an amazing question and I will definitely like to share on how I got started. I have always been that person that people always reached out to ask questions about venues and vendors and I have always been delighted to help people when it came to their event. I remember when I did my first event for free for my aunt in 2016 for her 40th birthday party and I was like a WHOLE ME!!! I didn’t think I was equal to that task but I did it anyways and it definitely made me the person I am today. So many people at that party kept asking for my business card which I didn’t have one and they told me that they enjoyed the party and that I was good at what I do and that is how DEServing Events started. The name of the business didn’t come until after my aunts 40th birthday party. I will be forever grateful to my aunt for seeing so much potential in me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ha! That’s a good question!!! It has not been a smooth road but I am so thankful for every situation I have gone through because I am learning every day how to do things differently and how to handle all types of personalities. I thank God for giving me lots of patience and allowing me to be very professional at all times. I have learned to keep my cool even when a client is yelling at me or cursing me out for something that I didn’t do when I clearly told them that I don’t do certain things. There are so many struggles I have faced but I am thankful that I have faced them because it has made me a better business owner.
