Exploring Life & Business with Keshia Michaud of The Frnch / Essentials Beauty Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keshia Michaud.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Frnch Speaks for itself! ELEGANCE CLASS and a bit of Attitude. I started The Frnch three years ago When I noticed that there weren’t that many clothing lines or boutiques that offered the sophisticated side of being Sexy. Being from Miami where it is all about showing skin, I wanted to take a different approach when starting my clothing line. We started with a swimwear line that offered nude and skin-colored tones to keep an elegant tone and went with riske cuts and lines on our tops and bottoms. We also incorporated sexy one pieces that were still Riske. Forward to a few years later, we have moved on to adding a full line of women’s clothing from Lingerie to Dresses for all occasions. Now we have a chosen the route to start a custom line of women’s wear that includes swimwear and matching sets. The Frnch can also be found in stores now at Essentials Beauty Miami which is a partner company located at 5918 Pembroke rd. West Park Fl 33023 and online at TheFRNCH.com. We would not be this far today if we were not as consistent and true to our brand. The type of women we want to cater to are those that are always going to be the fiercest and most respected woman in the room. Like our name The FRNCH, we trust that one day our brand will be viewed as one that is set apart from the rest. Understanding that the fashion industry will never stop changing and growing we are going to elevate into a Brand that started from wholesaling retail clothing to the brand that give the fashion industry something to always look out for. Our main goal is staying Different and true to you, never conforming to what society deems as Sexy or Beautiful.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
A smooth Road it was not. There has been so many times where I felt like I wasn’t getting as far as I wanted. Then there would be those times that I would look back at how far I’ve come and then said there’s no way I’m stopping now. The start of the pandemic was one of those times where it was really rough for everyone, and there was no doubt that The Frnch would make it out alive. Once you believe in yourself or your Brand there is a sense of security once things like these happen because you somewhat planned to face adversity, you just never know the extremity that it would come to.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Frnch / Essentials Beauty Miami?
I am the owner of multiple businesses. The Frnch which is a Women clothing line and then there’s Essentials Beauty Miami a modern beauty supply store. The Frnch came before the beauty supply store since it could be run as an online business, this is what gave me insight of running a business from beginning to end. When I decided to open up a storefront beauty supply store I wanted it to feel different, once again from the normal beauty supply store. I chose to incorporate The Frnch and add a beauty bar that way it would be a “One Stop Shop”. Every woman that walks through our doors is guaranteed to find something that they need and something they want. I’m most proud of being a Black-owned beauty supply store since this industry that we as black woman spend so much money on is dominated by other cultures. Essentials Beauty Miami and The Frnch go hand in hand when fulfilling the needs of every woman’s needs.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising that most people don’t know about The Frnch is that it was originally supposed to start off as a custom clothing line only. However, I took a trip to the fashion district in LA and fell in love with the convenience of buying wholesale and reselling. I loved it so much I put off starting a custom clothing line because it involved so much and I also felt at that time that my clientele wasn’t strong enough to focus on a custom clothing line. But now the time is here, and I am more than prepared and confident that the customs line will make a great impact in the fashion world.
