Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina (Kari) Diaz.
Hi Kari, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Honestly, this was never my plan. I never dreamed of having a coffee cart. I work full-time as a litigation paralegal, and before this began I didn’t even know how to pull a shot of espresso. But one night, God put this dream on my heart, and as quickly as you can say ‘Agape,’ the vision was birthed and it just took off.
The root of it all comes back to my faith, my willingness to say ‘yes,’ and most importantly, God. He opened the doors, equipped me in ways I didn’t expect, and continues to guide every step. What started as His idea has now become a growing mission through Agape Brew—where every cup is about more than coffee, it’s about love, encouragement, and creating space for Jesus to move.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I stepped into this with no prior experience, so everything was brand new — from learning how to work an espresso machine to figuring out permits, licensing, and even what it takes to run a mobile business. On top of that, I still work full-time as a litigation paralegal, so balancing both worlds has stretched me in every way.
There were moments of doubt, financial hurdles, and the reality of doing things afraid. But t through every obstacle there has been an opportunity to trust God deeper and see Him provide. What I’ve learned is that a calling doesn’t come without challenges — but when God calls you, He also equips you. And that truth has been carrying me through every struggle.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Agape Brew isn’t just a coffee cart — it’s a mission on wheels. We specialize in handcrafted espresso drinks and coffee creations, but what truly sets us apart is that every cup is served with purpose. The name ‘Agape’ means unconditional love, and that’s the heartbeat of the brand: to create a space where people feel encouraged, uplifted, and reminded that they are seen.
We do private events, pop-ups, and partner with local churches, businesses, and community groups. Whether it’s a corporate gathering, a wedding, or a Sunday service, we bring more than just coffee — we bring connection.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is that Agape Brew represents more than a product. It’s a testimony of saying ‘yes’ to God’s plan and watching Him turn it into something bigger than myself. Our readers should know that when they book or visit us, they’re not just getting coffee — they’re experiencing community, faith, and love poured into every single cup.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
For me, mentorship and networking have really come down to being open, humble, and willing to learn. I didn’t step into this knowing much about the coffee world at all, but God kept placing people in my path who knew more than I did — baristas, business owners, even strangers who became friends. I think the key is to ask questions, stay teachable, and not be afraid to admit when you don’t know something.
What has been working well for me is building genuine relationships rather than just connections. I’ve found mentors by showing up, serving alongside others, and letting people see my heart and mission. And in return, God has provided the right people at the right time to pour wisdom into me. My advice is simple: be authentic, be willing to sow into others as much as you receive, and trust that the right community will form around your ‘yes.’
