Exploring Life & Business with Jordan Ecker of Ecker Oral Surgery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Ecker.

Hi Jordan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Brittany and I met while attending dental school at Columbia University in New York City, where our shared passion for treating patients first brought us together. After dental school, we each continued our training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, gaining experience in the full scope of surgical care and developing a deep appreciation for the trust patients place in their providers.

As our careers progressed, we started to imagine building something of our own: a practice that reflected not only our clinical training, but also the kind of patient experience we believed people deserved. Opening our own oral surgery practice became a way for us to combine high-level surgical care with a hospitality-driven philosophy — one centered on comfort, communication, attention to detail, and making every patient feel genuinely cared for from the moment they walk in.

Today, our practice is the result of years of training, shared vision, and a desire to create an environment where patients feel confident, respected, and at ease. For us, it’s not just about performing procedures; it’s about changing the way people experience oral surgery.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We expected that building something from the ground up would come with challenges. One of the biggest hurdles was navigating the permitting and construction process in Miami, which can be complex and time-consuming. There are a lot of moving parts, and when you are trying to build a healthcare space the right way, every detail matters.

Additionally our ideas for the practice were constantly evolving. One idea would lead to another, and every decision helped us better define what we wanted the patient experience to feel like. That creative process was exciting, but it can also be challenging during construction, where changes have real timing and cost implications. Ultimately, the process forced us to be thoughtful, patient, and very intentional about the kind of practice we wanted to build. We’re very fortunate to have worked with a fantastic team to make our dream a reality.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our practice is an oral and maxillofacial surgery office in Miami focused on providing high-level surgical care in an environment that feels thoughtful, calm, and patient-centered. We perform procedures such as wisdom teeth removal, dental extractions, bone grafting, dental implants, oral pathology treatment, and IV sedation.

What sets us apart is the way we approach the patient experience. Oral surgery can be intimidating, and we never take that lightly. From the design of the office to the way we communicate with patients, our goal is to make people feel comfortable, informed, and genuinely cared for. We wanted to create a practice that combines clinical excellence with a hospitality-driven philosophy — where every detail is intentional and patients feel like they are being treated as people, not just procedures.

We are especially proud of the brand we are building because it reflects who we are. It is modern, warm, and elevated, but still personal. We want patients to feel confidence in our surgical training, but also feel the difference in how they are welcomed, guided, and supported throughout the entire experience.

At the core of our practice is the belief that excellent surgical care and an excellent patient experience should go hand in hand. We want readers to know that our office was built around that idea — to make oral surgery feel less stressful, more transparent, and more comfortable from start to finish.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is that building a practice is about so much more than the clinical work. Clinical excellence is the foundation, but the patient experience, the team culture, the systems, and the small details all matter just as much.

We’ve also learned that having a clear vision is incredibly important, but so is being flexible. Throughout the process, our ideas evolved, timelines shifted, and challenges came up that forced us to adapt. The key was staying grounded in the bigger goal: creating a practice that reflects our values and makes patients feel truly cared for.

For us, the biggest lesson has been that every decision — from the design of the space to the way a patient is greeted — contributes to the kind of experience we are building. Nothing is too small to matter.
