Exploring Life & Business with Jessica Martinez of Tinez Farms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Martinez.

Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Our story started with Tinez Construction, we had been working in the construction and design industry for some time and in 2020 we decided we wanted to add something more down to earth to our line of work. Around that time, we were inspired by a tenet that was renting some land to grow produce, we learned from him how to grow produce organically, and with time the farm became what it is today.

The farm began as a space where we would grow our own produce, the clean way without the use of pesticides. With time, we expanded from growing produce to also taking in animals and now creating a space where the community is able to visit and enjoy farm and seasonal activities.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the struggles that we encountered when we were first starting the farm was finding the land and getting it cleaned up.

The land were we are now wasn’t originally marked as available, but once we drove past it, we knew we had to take the chance to ask it was or would be available. Once we were able to get the land the new challenge was to clear it as it was full of debris,

We’ve been impressed with Tinez Farms, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tinez Farms is an organic, family-owned farm located in Miami on Krome rd. Tinez Farms was founded by Jessica and Ruben Martinez. Being Miami natives, they realized how scarce the market for local, organically grown goods was. Having little to no experience in agriculture, they ventured on this journey with a single common goal: to build a better tomorrow for their family. So, they’re learning along the way and sharing the wealth with their hometown.

Something that I am proud of brand-wise and that I believe that sets us apart from others is working with other businesses/organizations to give back to the community. We love to participate in events that other organizations host in order to engage with our community, as well as contributing to silent auctions, and assist in other fundraising efforts.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I would tell other entrepreneur who are just starting out that there is never the “perfect” time to do something. From experience, the best is to just do it, whatever they’ve had in mind, and learn along the way.
