Exploring Life & Business with Jeremy Shir of Jeremy Shir PA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Shir.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After law school, I was fortunate to begin my career as Chief of Staff to a State Senator. That experience gave me a deep, practical understanding of how policy, politics, and key decision-making intersect in real life. It also underscored the importance of relationships- working in a state as large and diverse as Florida exposed me to a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives. Essentially I got to see how the sausages were made and play a role in that process.

I leveraged that experience and transitioned into a large, well-established law firm in Broward County, where I built a practice focused on land use, zoning, and local government law. This allowed me to advise clients how to navigate complex regulatory environments while collaborating closely with municipalities and public agencies.

After more than a decade at two prominent firms, I made the decision to open my own practice which has been extremely rewarding.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While I was Chief of Staff, I spent several months each year living in Tallahassee during legislative sessions. That experience was demanding both professionally and personally, but it taught me how to operate effectively under intense time pressure.

Later, as an associate at my first law firm, I faced a different kind of challenge. Within eight months, both partners in the land-use practice left. I had to sink or swim. I persevered, adapted, and began bringing in my own clients.

These experiences taught me the importance of grit and taking ownership of one’s career.

We’ve been impressed with Jeremy Shir PA, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jeremy Shir Law Firm is a boutique South Florida law firm focused on land use and zoning law. We work with developers, property owners, investors, and businesses to guide projects through the complex entitlement and approval process. Our practice includes rezoning and site plan applications, variances, future land use amendments, development agreements, code compliance issues, and other regulatory matters tied to real estate development.

What sets our firm apart is our highly personalized, hands-on approach and deep knowledge of local government processes. I work directly with clients from start to finish, ensuring consistent strategy, clear communication, and solutions that are tailored to the specific goals of each project. We pride ourselves on being practical problem-solvers who understand both the legal framework and the real-world challenges developers face.

Brand-wise, we are most proud of our reputation for clarity, responsiveness, and effective advocacy. We are known for simplifying complicated zoning and land use issues and helping clients move their projects forward efficiently. Our ability to serve clients in English, Spanish, and Hebrew further reflects our commitment to accessibility and strong client relationships.

My firms is based on expertise, trust, and results. Whether navigating approvals for a major development or resolving a nuanced zoning issue, we are dedicated to protecting our clients’ interests and helping them succeed at every stage of the development process.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is biking with my Grandfather along the Charles River in Boston and then setting up a spot with my family for a picnic at the Esplanade on July 4th. In the evening the Boston Pops started playing all the classic Independence Day songs and later it was capped off with an amazing fireworks display – it really made a strong impression on me as a kid.
