Exploring Life & Business with Jamie Seidner of Jamie Seidner Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Seidner.

Hi Jamie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Having struggled with my weight as a teen, my world changed when someone told me I could study nutrition as a career. I had tried every diet under the sun and as I know all too well now, either there were no results or the results did not last. After completing my undergrad degree at UF (go GATORS!), I knew that my future was to work in the wellness space. I moved to NYC to obtain my dual master’s degree in Nutrition and Applied Physiology from Columbia University, while concomitantly completing the internship hours necessary to take and pass my registered dietitian exam. Having moved back to Miami, I began my 20-year journey as a dietitian. I worked in many spaces such as fitness gyms, corporate wellness, outpatient at Miami Childrens’ Hospital while always seeing private clients on the side. I gradually focused more and more on 1:1 clients until it was my sole focus. I was featured on many TV shows, had multiple public speaking opportunities, and even did a TEDTalk for which was awarded an Emmy Award! Fast forward to 2020, I had an idea baby during the COVID lockdown… Now married with 3 kids, 2 of which were knee-deep in virtual school, I was really feeling the challenge and pressure of feeding everyone healthy meals all day every day. It dawned on me, “has anyone ever asked a mom how she feels about bearing the burden of what it means to feed her kids?” Feeding your kids means a whole lot more than just getting food on the table- it affects their growth, development, weight, mood, strength, physical abilities, sleep habits, hormones and so much more! And so, MOMS CLUB was born. MOMS CLUB is set up as an 8-week virtual group course where we discuss relevant topics such as emotional eating, mom pressure, picky eaters, choosing your battles, weight management, and more. After completing the 8-week course, participants are now part of the greater MOMS CLUB MEMBER community, which benefits from exclusive social and educational events, constant support from myself and other moms, and priceless bonds with moms that you know understand what you are going through.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Private practice is forever a hustle, but once you have built up a solid reputation for doing what you do best, your audience will find you.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Jamie Seidner Nutrition?
Jamie Seidner Nutrition specializes in nutrition for MOMS & KIDS. The practice handles everything including weight management, meal prepping, nutrition education, teenage nutrition, self-esteem, hormonal imbalances, gut health, nutrition and menopause, and much more. My unique focus on MOMS & KIDS comes from the combination of my 20 years of experience being a dietitian and now having to put it to practice every day raising 3 healthy kids. In addition, I had the wonderful opportunity to receive expert training and experience at Miami Children’s (Now Nicklaus) Hospital. I am most proud of my mantra to MOMS “Work on becoming the best YOU so that you can be better for THEM.” As MOMS we do our very best every day, but not every day is our best day. The same goes for feeding our kids. Not every day will turn out the way you expected, but that doesn’t mean that you failed. Taking a step back and looking at the whole week, the whole month and the whole year is much more relevant than what happened on any one day during any one meal.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in Miami was amazing. Far from being the hectic booming metropolis it is now, it was a quiet, sunny cozy place to live. I am from Cuban Jewish heritage and grew up in a bilingual household in the lovely community of Pinecrest. I had a wonderful childhood, with many friends and always lots to do. At around 15 years old, my body started to behave in a way I was not used to, and I started to gain weight. I know now that my self-esteem started to waiver, and I became uncomfortable in my own skin. It would take me a few years, many diets, and countless hours in the gym to finally arrive at a body I felt good in. My passion to do what I do every day comes from the ability to now potentially save MOMS & KIDS from feeling what I felt those few years and guiding them towards a healthy relationship with food.
