Hi Iuliia , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Iuliia Kanar (most people in the US call me Julia).
I am a nail technician and the owner of JNails Miami, a private small nail studio located in the Hallandale Beach area.
I have been in the industry for 15 years, and I started my journey in Omsk, Siberia, Russia.
I started in a small beauty salon, with big excitement and shaking hands. After having a regular office job from 9 AM to 5 PM, it was something completely different: flexible, artistic, and interesting.
A couple of years later, I moved to Moscow and started working just three days later in a very classy salon only a 15-minute walk from the Kremlin. At that time, it felt like a dream come true.
Later, I worked for a French beauty salon franchise, where I had many foreign clients. My English was at the level of “Hello, how are you?” and not much more! So I started learning English by writing down phrases I thought I might need and simply memorizing them.
After about five years of experience in some of Moscow’s best beauty salons, I became tired of schedules, noise, and strict rules. I decided to try working for myself. I rented a room inside a salon and started a new chapter in my career.
Life was interesting, and I met my future husband, who is from Turkey. In 2018, our plan was to move permanently to Marmaris, Turkey, and continue building our lives there. But everything changed when my husband won a Green Card.
That was it—we were moving to the USA. Miami!
I’ll be honest: when I arrived here, I was shocked, and unfortunately not in the best way. There was a lot to figure out—documents, licensing, learning how things work, and finding a place where I truly fit. It was much harder than I expected.
After three years of working in a salon in the Sunny Isles area, I finally decided it was time to create a place that reflected my own vision: private, quiet, and focused on quality service.
I specialize in Russian manicure and pedicure techniques, known in the US for their precision, attention to detail, and long-lasting results.
You won’t see rows of tables and chairs in my studio. It is a one-on-one experience, with full attention dedicated only to you. That’s my concept.
This year marks five years since my nail studio opened.
A lot has changed during this time. There is more competition and more nail technicians than ever before. But I am still here. I believe consistency and staying true to your own vision are the keys to long-term success.
The nail industry continues to grow and improve. My mission is to provide high-quality manicure and pedicure services using advanced Russian techniques, with love, care, and respect for every client.
Even after all these years, I am still in love with my job. It never gets boring. I meet amazing people, learn new things, and continue growing every day.
I am very excited about my future plans to grow my small business—not for quantity, but for quality.

How do you think about luck?
Good luck has played a big part in my life. I was brave enough to take the opportunities that life opened for me and to follow the paths it showed me.
I have also been very lucky with the people I have met along the way—those who have worked with me, supported me, and trusted me. I am truly grateful for every person who has been part of my journey.
