Elizabeth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The idea to start Scapes by Elizabeth came from realizing the need for thoughtfully designed products that showcase places that are meaningful to people. With a love for art, architecture, and fashion, I wanted to merge these passions into a high-quality, luxury item that felt personal and unique. During my travels, I always enjoyed marveling at architectural wonders and wanted to find items that reminded me of my time in each city. Struggling to find such a piece myself, I decided to create luxurious Italian silk scarves inspired by cities and travel. After developing samples, it was clear that many people shared my desire for these beautifully designed, versatile scarves that could be worn or gifted. This confirmed that my idea was something special and worth pursuing.
I started Scapes By Elizabeth in architecture school, where I developed the ability to convey narratives through design. During my final year of school, I began researching how to create designs on silk, finding manufacturers, and developing a business plan. After graduating, I was able to focus on the business full time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to building Scapes by Elizabeth has been anything but smooth. Navigating the fashion industry as a new brand comes with challenges, from securing reliable manufacturers to managing production delays. Balancing creativity with the business side was also a learning curve. At times, I doubted whether the demand for high-end scarves, inspired by peoples favorite places, would be enough. Yet each obstacle reinforced my belief in the brand. Customer feedback, especially seeing how my pieces connected with people, kept me motivated. Every challenge was a stepping stone to perfecting my craft and refining the brand.

We also create custom silk scarves and accessories for brands, weddings, birthdays, hotels, luxury gifts and so much more. Each of our products are made in Italy using 100% silk twill. Our scarves are perfect for any occasion, transitioning seamlessly from day to night. These versatile pieces can be worn not only as scarves but also as tops, skirts, headpieces, neck ties, bracelets, or even chic purses.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always curious and creative, and my love for art was sparked early on by both of my grandmothers, who were artists. Watching them work inspired me to spend hours drawing, creating something new, and exploring my artistic side. As I got older, I became more drawn to fashion, especially how clothing could express identity and tell a story. I was particularly captivated by accessories—bags, scarves, and jewelry—because of their versatility and the way it could add personality to any look. My passion for both art and fashion has always coexisted, shaping my creative journey and leading me to where I am today.
