Exploring Life & Business with Elena Moffa of Rumble Boxing South Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Moffa.

Hi Elena, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I got where I am today by genuinely loving what I do, consistently showing up for it with big care, and staying true to myself, my values, and my vision.

Let’s rewind back to over 5 years ago… I was an elementary school teacher that spent all of my free time training clients one on one, training for marathons, and taking group fitness classes any chance I could. I enjoyed what I did but always knew there was more on the horizon. One night I decided to take a boxing class and was instantly hooked. Four months following, I found myself miced up on a stage with zero group fitness experience, auditioning for what was said to be the coolest fitness concept in NYC. As much as I’d love to say, “and the rest was history…” The truth is far from that.

Spoiler: the company was Rumble and I did not get the job. I did, however, gain an experience that really sparked something inside of me and pushed me forward to put myself in positions that attracted luck. Throughout the five years that followed, I began teaching group fitness boxing classes in traditional boxing gyms which gave me the experience and confidence I needed to really excel in this industry. I began to add my own creative and rhythmic flare to all of my classes which then led to the creation of my own programs on various audio, digital and brick and mortar platforms. My classes became such a creative outlet that sparked so much joy in my life that I finally decided to take the leap and dive headfirst into the fitness industry full time which ultimately led to where I am today – opening the Rumble Miami franchise – nothing like a full circle moment.

While it has certainly been a windy, bumpy, yet exhilarating ride, it’s been a journey that I wouldn’t trade in for anything. I have met some of the greatest people, learned a lot of valuable lessons, and as corny as it may sound, witnessed the magic that is brought to life when a group of people come together to move, sweat, and push past all of their limiting beliefs. I am incredibly fortunate to have found such a sense of purpose in something that I also call my job. It has shifted my perspective and made me begin to wish for everything in life to happen exactly the way it does.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all! In fact, it’s been anything but smooth lol. In the beginning, my main challenges were finding my voice, rhythm, and authenticity as a group fitness instructor in such a competitive industry. It wasn’t until I really invested in the knowledge of my own coach and finally got out of my head that I actually fell in love with what I was doing for both myself and others that stumbled into the second challenge – how to make this passion of mine a full-time career. The fitness industry is a jigsaw puzzle of hustle and for someone like me, can easily lead to burnout. It’s continues to be a challenge for me to listen to my own body, slow down, work (and workout) smarter, rest, recover and say no when I need to.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Rumble is a no BS, authentic “boxing-inspired” experience led by some of the best trainers in the business. We are hospitality-driven group fitness for the individual and pride ourselves on creating a premium fitness service unlike anything else. I, in particular, have the honor of introducing this celebrity back brand to Magic City Miami.

The thing I am most proud of and what sets Rumble Miami apart from others is hands down our dedicated team, the incredible city we represent, and the growing community we are lucky to serve.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
It’s no secret that the fitness industry took a big hit throughout the pandemic. We saw the digital fitness world have its big moment and while I believe at-home fitness will continue to thrive, I think what people are really craving now, more so than ever is a sense of connection and togetherness. Therefore, I hope that the next big craze will be centered on a communal fitness experience, taking us back to the basics and promoting a variety of movement and wellness as a whole.
