Hi Dr. Crystal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey with Viv Essentials started long before I ever mixed my first batch of body butter. It began with me and my children struggling with our skin. I was buying products left and right, hoping something would work, and nothing gave us the relief or results we needed. As a mom wanting results, that didn’t sit right with me. I wanted excellence for my family, and I couldn’t find it on the shelves. So I decided to create it.
I went into the lab, starting small, experimenting after work, researching ingredients, and learning everything I could about how the skin responds to nourishment, inflammation, hydration, and healing. My first creations were body butters made with pure, intentional ingredients. When I saw how well they worked on our skin, I knew I had something special.
From there, Viv Essentials grew collection by collection, not just for aesthetics but for solutions. Every product we launch has a purpose and a story behind it. Our Eczema Collection came from dealing with flare-ups at home. Our EvenTone and hyperpigmentation products were born from my own journey with uneven skin tone and wanting a routine that delivered real results without irritation. Our Daily Use Collection came from wanting clean, gentle products the whole family could use with confidence. And our Stretch Marks Body Butter grew from my own experience and the need for something that truly supported the skin’s elasticity and repair.
Viv Essentials exists because I wanted people to finally feel comfortable in their skin, naturally, beautifully, and confidently. No compromises. No toxic ingredients. No hidden fillers. Just products made with intention and rooted in real-life experience.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building Viv Essentials has been a journey of faith, consistency, and a whole lot of learning. But through every challenge, God has been faithful.
One of the biggest hurdles has been making connections and getting into the right communities. When you’re building a brand from the ground up, especially as a small business, you’re constantly trying to prove yourself, open doors, and earn trust. I’ve had to show up over and over again, even when the rooms felt intimidating or when I felt unseen. But every connection, every customer, every event has helped build the foundation of what Viv Essentials is becoming.
I’m still growing, still pushing, and still walking by faith. And even though the journey hasn’t been easy, it has been purposeful. Each challenge has shaped Viv Essentials into the brand it is today: rooted in intention, built on integrity, and powered by God’s grace.

My business community at CoSpace has also played a major role in my growth. Joy, the owner of the space, has been a blessing from the moment I met her. She believed in me immediately and has consistently poured into me. She helped me walk with more confidence as a businesswoman and has been a real advocate for Viv Essentials. She tells the community about my brand, connects me with opportunities, and always reminds me that what I am building matters.
