Exploring Life & Business with Anita Braham of The Hub Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Braham.

Hi Anita, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve spent most of my career working at the intersection of arts, programming, and community. I started out in the museum world and spent about a decade at Pérez Art Museum Miami, where I was really focused on building public programs and finding ways to connect people to art in meaningful, accessible ways.

Over time, I realized what I love most is creating experiences—bringing people together, whether that’s through a conversation, a performance, or something more unexpected. That led me to expand beyond museums into more interdisciplinary programming.

Now, as Senior Director of Programming at The Hub Miami, I oversee a wide range of cultural programming– from comedy and author talks to culinary events, theater, and wellness. A big part of my work is thinking about how to build a calendar that feels dynamic and relevant, but also deeply rooted in community.

At the core of everything I do is a belief that cultural experiences should feel welcoming and engaging, and that they have a real power to connect people.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a mostly smooth road, especially during my time in the museum world, where I learned and grew a great deal. Of course, there were challenges along the way, but they really helped prepare me for the work I’m doing now.

In the nonprofit arts space, there are always some hurdles—typically smaller budgets and lean teams trying to accomplish big, meaningful things. But those moments are part of what makes the work so impactful. It’s been a rewarding, winding journey so far, and I’m excited for what’s still to come.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Hub Miami ?
The Hub, located on the Temple Beth Am campus in Pinecrest, is a vibrant cultural arts and community center redefining South Miami’s creative scene through food, laughter, and connection. Rooted in a 70-year legacy of community and Jewish heritage, The Hub is a welcoming, inclusive destination where world-class programming across comedy, culinary arts, wellness, and live performance brings people together in meaningful ways.

Since opening in April 2023, The Hub has become known as South Miami’s “cultural living room,” prioritizing intimacy, conversation, and shared experience while giving audiences rare, close access to nationally recognized talent in a community-driven setting.

From its Chef’s Table dinners and comedy series to author talks, theater, and wellness programming, The Hub curates experiences designed to foster connection across generations and backgrounds. The mission is simple: to unite the community through culture.

The Hub also features a range of flexible indoor and outdoor spaces, all available for event rentals, serving as both a cultural destination and a gathering place for the broader South Florida community.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have many mentors, supporters, and teammates who have played a meaningful role in my journey, and I’m grateful for the chance to recognize at least a few of them.

In the art world, I’ve had the privilege of learning from inspiring leaders, including Franklin Sirmans, Mari Robles, Dennis Scholl, Adele Myers, Meghan McCauley, Laura Novoa, and Amanda Bradley. Across my years in the museum field, each of them has shaped my understanding of the art ecosystem and taught me how to thoughtfully navigate its complexities.

I’ve also been lucky to work alongside extraordinary colleagues, both past and present, whose collaboration and support have been invaluable. From my museum days, I’m especially grateful to David Miller, Maria Trujillo, and Oscar Rieveling, and from my current team at The Hub, Favi Budyszewick, Jessica Hernandez, Nancy Levy, Shanel Hyler, and Ian Hunt.

I am also incredibly grateful for the guidance and support of the large network of my fellow Florida Presenters, who have already taught me so much about the booking and venue management world.

There are so many others who have influenced and supported me along the way- I could go on at length- but I’m deeply appreciative of the generosity, guidance, and encouragement I’ve received throughout my career.
