Exploring Life & Business with Angela Romero of Wholesale Makeup

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Romero.

Angela Romero

Hi Angela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I am Colombian, I arrived in the USA in 1997. In the first years, I did work such as cleaning houses, babysitting, bartending, etc. In 2010 I was fired from my sales job at a liquidation company. A month later I opened my own company in the same field, I started from scratch with very little money but I started flipping the merchandise because I did not have the capital to buy inventory and I worked from my apartment all by myself.

I moved from warehoused for years, today I have 20 thousand square feet of warehouse and 45 employees between the USA and Colombia, I started from scratch and am today selling 7 figures.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most difficult situations have been employee management, lost shipments, and loss of suppliers. The worst thing was when a trusted employee stole the database and I had to start again almost from scratch.

We’ve been impressed with Wholesale Makeup INC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After so many years distributing other makeup brands, I decided to launch my own skin and makeup brand called Totemica Beauty Ritual, offering quality and USA-made products. What makes us stand out from the rest of this makeup industry is prompt, timely, specialized, customer service, we guarantee our orders.

The setup of our showroom is unique in the industry, it’s an Instagramable place where the walking lives an experience, in addition, the client is guided in the process from the purchase until the order gets to their countries or places where they order them from, and also free digital courses.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Of course, I would not have been able to achieve this alone, my family, who are my greatest support, who work with me, but my collaborators, many of whom have been with me for years.
