Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Sofia Guzman.
Hi Ana Sofia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from El Salvador, and I now live in Miami. Growing up bilingual deeply shaped how I see language, culture, and identity, and it’s something I’ve always wanted to pass on to my children.
Binibi was born in 2020, shortly after I became a parent. As I started looking for resources to help my kids learn Spanish in a natural, joyful way, I realized there was a real gap in the market. Many bilingual products felt either too academic or not engaging enough for very young children, especially babies and toddlers. I wanted something playful, musical, and culturally relevant—something that made bilingualism feel fun and accessible for families like mine.
My co-founder, Luciana, and I launched Binibi with the goal of supporting early Spanish learning through interactive, musical books that parents and children could enjoy together. What started as a small idea has grown into a collection of 10 titles, all designed to make language learning feel joyful, intuitive, and meaningful. Seeing families use our books to connect, sing, and celebrate bilingualism has been incredibly rewarding and continues to motivate me every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. It has been an extraordinarily difficult journey. Building a company without a clearly defined roadmap means you’re constantly making decisions without knowing if they’re the right ones, and that uncertainty can be exhausting. Every step required tradeoffs—where to spend limited resources, what to prioritize, and what to let go of.
In the early days, we had to learn how to do almost everything ourselves, from product development and manufacturing to marketing, logistics, and sales. Launching a brand in a crowded market added another layer of difficulty. Gaining traction and building brand awareness takes time, consistency, and patience, especially when you don’t have a big budget behind you.
That said, those challenges also forced us to become resourceful and resilient. Each obstacle pushed us to learn faster, adapt quickly, and stay deeply connected to why we started in the first place. While the road has been far from smooth, it’s been incredibly formative and has shaped both the company and me as a founder.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Binibi?
Binibi is a children’s publishing company focused on helping families raise bilingual kids through play, music, and connection. We create interactive bilingual (English-Spanish) musical and sound books designed specifically for babies and toddlers, when language development is happening fastest.
What we’re best known for is making Spanish learning feel joyful and accessible, even for parents who may not feel fully confident in the language themselves. Our books combine beloved songs, simple storytelling, and high-quality design to encourage natural language exposure at home. Each page includes a sound or song, inviting kids to press, listen, sing, and engage—turning learning into a shared experience rather than a lesson.
What truly sets Binibi apart is the intentionality behind every product. Our books are created with cultural authenticity in mind, drawing from Latin American traditions and music, while still being approachable for multicultural families. We focus on early childhood development, safety, and durability, knowing these books are often a child’s first introduction to another language.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust families place in us. Seeing parents tell us that our books have become part of their daily routines—bedtime, playtime, car rides—is incredibly meaningful. I’m also proud of how much the brand has grown while staying true to its mission. From our first title to now having ten books available nationwide, we’ve built something that feels both purposeful and personal.
I want your readers to know that Binibi isn’t just about books—it’s about connection. It’s about giving families the tools to celebrate language, culture, and togetherness from the very beginning, in a way that feels fun, approachable, and full of heart.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very active and curious child. I loved to read and was always drawn to stories—I even wrote my first “books” when I was about eight years old. Looking back, that early love for storytelling feels like a clear thread connecting my childhood to what I do today.
I also loved being active and playing sports. I played soccer and volleyball, which taught me discipline, teamwork, and resilience from a young age. I think that combination of creativity and activity really shaped my personality: I was curious, energetic, and always eager to learn and try new things.
Those early interests—reading, creating, and staying active—still influence me today, both personally and professionally.
