Exploring Life & Business with Almar Lurie of Bande de Vagabonds

Today we’d like to introduce you to Almar Lurie.

Hi Almar, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My jewelry journey began quite organically. I spent years in fashion — studying in France, running retail in Guam, and traveling through Asia and Europe — always collecting unique pieces of jewelry as souvenirs of my adventures. Each piece carried a story, an energy, a memory. Over time, friends and clients wanted to share in that feeling, and that’s how Bande de Vagabonds was born — a collection inspired by the free spirit of travel and the beauty of imperfection. Our name, French for “band of wanderers,” captures that essence perfectly. Today, we’ve grown from a global online brand to creating local experiences, with North Miami, Florida, being our newest stop on the journey. Through pop-ups and community events, we bring our treasures to life. Jewelry, for me, is a form of NeuroStyling™, which is my signature transformational coaching method I incorporate as a professional business in tandem and in synch with my curated line of jewelry “Bande de Vagabonds” — it’s how we wear our stories, our confidence, and the energy of who we are becoming.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road — and I wouldn’t want it to be. Building and running a creative business that depends on global suppliers, cultural connections, and travel means embracing unpredictability. From navigating language and cultural barriers to sourcing materials across continents, there’s always an element of adventure and adaptation. When the world shut down and travel came to a halt, it felt like losing a part of our brand’s heartbeat. But it also became an invitation to evolve. We expanded our reach online, connecting with customers around the world in new and meaningful ways. Every challenge has taught me resilience, creativity, and the importance of flexibility. I’ve learned that obstacles aren’t interruptions — they’re catalysts for growth. For a brand built on exploration and transformation, change isn’t the enemy. It’s the journey. And it’s had me land here in South Florida, a long way from a small island in the Pacific.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bande de Vagabonds?
Bande de Vagabonds is more than a jewelry brand — it’s a reflection of a life spent exploring beauty, culture, and self-expression. With over 25 years in fashion, retail, and design, I’ve built a brand that blends my global adventures with my deep belief that style is energy. Each piece we offer carries a story, an emotion, a spark of transformation — because I’ve seen how the right piece of jewelry can shift your mood, your confidence, even your day.

As a solo entrepreneur, I’ve lived the full spectrum of creation — from exhilarating wins to humbling lessons — and I now bring that wisdom into my personal coaching and NeuroStyling™ practice. What sets Bande de Vagabonds apart is its soul: every design is chosen with intention, joy, and humor. We celebrate individuality, adventure, and the beauty of becoming who you are — one piece, one story, at a time. I love to see you light up when you wear one of my pieces, and delight even more when you come back and tell me about all the compliments you always receive when you wear your new piece.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
So many people have shaped my journey. First and foremost, my parents — the original world explorers — who created the culture I was born into. Their love for travel, adventure, and beauty made the extraordinary feel completely normal. My mother’s impeccable taste in fashion and my parents’ unwavering “you can do anything” attitude are the DNA I run on today.

Over the years, I’ve also been blessed with loyal clients and supporters who have grown with me through every collection, store, and idea. Their trust in my style and vision is what keeps me inspired to create. When someone tells me a piece makes them feel beautiful or confident, that’s everything. I would never be able to do what I do without the people who believe in me, wear my carefully curated pieces, and share in this journey. Bande de Vagabonds is as much theirs as it is mine.
