Hi, my name is Akilah. I am originally from Miami, Florida, and I hold degrees from both the University of Miami and the University of South Florida. With over 15 years of experience in healthcare, I am an Autonomous Dual Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner, having specialized in Primary Care and Urogynecology. In 2022, I was honored to be selected as South Florida’s Top 40 Under 40 Leaders, recognizing my contributions to healthcare and my community.
As a healthcare provider, I am passionate about providing my clients with up-to-date information on best practices for health and wellness. During my battle with COVID-19, I realized the importance of IV hydration with vitamins and minerals. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road always. I went to school to become a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner, not a businesswoman or entrepreneur.
As a result, not knowing the basics of starting a business or the financial pieces have been a struggle. I even went through a business name change due to Name Infringement, to even very slow months, where I would have to pick up shifts at the hospital to support myself and my family.
