Elizabeth Sabella of Coral Springs on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Elizabeth Sabella shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Elizabeth, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
What’s more important to me is definitely integrity. Someone can be super intelligent and have good energy, but who they are inside as a person means more than both of those things. The world right now has a lot of hate and we need more good to go around now, more than ever.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Elizabeth, and I’m a professionally trained Pastry Chef and the owner of Desserts by Elizabeth. I specialize in creating custom, one-of-a-kind cakes and desserts that are so much more than just sweet treats..they’re works of art! Ever since I was a child, I’ve been passionate about baking and wanted to understand the professional side of it. My family has owned restaurants, so the food industry has always been part of my life, and I’m proud to be the first in my family to formally study and pursue pastry professionally.

What makes my work unique is the personal connection I build with my clients. They know their desserts are made with the utmost love, care, and quality. I’m also a former Disney Cast Member, which means I’ve been trained in world-class customer service standards, something I carry into every client interaction. For me, great desserts go hand-in-hand with memorable experiences that keep people coming back.

Currently, I’m working professionally in the pastry industry while also running Desserts by Elizabeth, where I create custom cakes and desserts locally and sell shippable sweets nationwide through my Etsy shop.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
Who taught me the most about work is for sure my parents! They opened their first restaurant when I was 12 years old and that’s when I first started getting a feel for the industry. Ive always seen how hard they work and how above and beyond they went for their customers. The customers weren’t just customers, they grew to be friends and looked forward to stepping into my parents restaurants daily because they knew the incredible service and food that was there. Everyone was always treated with such love!

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
There’s no success without suffering. Everyone has to experience some sort of loss in order to see the success. That’s the only way we learn.. we get through the tough times and then come out stronger and more successful than ever. Also, there’s always going to be people trying to bring you down. They want to bring you down because you’re not on their level! Always continue going up and don’t let the hard times or haters bring you down

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
One of my best friends, and biggest supporters, Thaynara, says family quality time matters the most to me. Which is very true because I do work a lot so whatever time I get with family, and even friends I cherish and its so important to make that time with them.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Oh man I hope people just talk about my food! Haha! I can cook and not just bake, so I’m slowly creating my own recipes and maybe one day I can publish my own recipe book so people can continue enjoying my food, even when I’m gone.
