Today we’d like to introduce you to Yeni Pazos.
Hi Yeni, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It all started with wanting to give my daughter, Janie, real food, something I could control and feel good about, knowing exactly what ingredients were in it. I wanted our family to learn how to self-sustain and provide the best possible quality food for the people we love. What began with growing a few herbs and raising chickens at home slowly turned into a completely different lifestyle for us.
Along the way, Janie completely fell in love with the process. She has always been an entrepreneur at heart. I never thought about selling anything we made until one day she told me, ‘Mom, these are the best breads out there. We need to start selling them so we can buy the Highland cow you’ve always wanted.’
From that moment on, City Farm Girl became more than just baking bread. It became a heartwarming passion project we built together as a family, centered around homemade food, simple living, hard work, and creating meaningful memories together. Watching Janie learn responsibility, creativity, confidence, and the value of building something from the ground up has been the most rewarding part of this entire journey.
What started with one loaf of sourdough and a desire for healthier living turned into something that truly reflects who we are as a family.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing everything while still working full time as a Trust Officer. There have been so many days where I’ve had meetings, events, or long workdays and then come home just to immediately start prepping sourdough. If you know sourdough, then you know one loaf can take almost two days from start to finish.
Events and large orders usually mean sleepless nights. As a perfectionist, I need everything to be done exactly the way I envisioned it. There have honestly been times where I’ve discarded hundreds of items simply because I wasn’t happy with the color or how something turned out. My friends and clients always tell me they would have never noticed, but to me every detail matters.
I truly could not have done any of this without my husband, who our daughter lovingly calls ‘City Farm Boy.’ There have been nights where he’s stayed up all night helping me prep, bake, and package orders just so everything is ready on time. I also can’t leave out my sister, who has stayed up with us until 4 AM labeling and packaging products before events and pickups, only to wake up again at 6 AM the next morning.
We’ve definitely sacrificed a lot of travel, which has always been a huge part of our lives, but we knew building something meaningful would come with sacrifices. Thankfully, Janie has been such a good sport through it all. In fact, she’s usually the one pushing for more. Her dream is to one day open a little stand where everyone can come pick up their goodies.
At the end of the day, the sleepless nights and sacrifices have all been worth it because this has become so much more than just baking bread, it’s become something we’ve built together as a family.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work full time as a Trust Officer in the fiduciary industry, where I specialize in trust administration and managing complex family and fiduciary relationships. My role requires attention to detail, problem solving, communication, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and care.
One of my proudest accomplishments has been earning my CTFA designation, which reflects my commitment to continuing education and growth within the industry. I take a lot of pride in building strong relationships and being someone clients and colleagues can rely on.
What sets me apart is my ability to balance two very different worlds. While I work in a highly professional and detail-oriented corporate environment during the day, I also dedicate countless hours outside of work to building City Farm Girl alongside my family. I think that balance has taught me discipline, resilience, creativity, and the importance of staying grounded.
At the end of the day, whether it’s in my professional career or through City Farm Girl, I genuinely care about creating meaningful relationships, working hard, and building something with purpose.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think one of the most important qualities behind my success is consistency. Whether it’s my professional career, motherhood, or building City Farm Girl with my family, I’ve learned that showing up every single day — even when you’re tired — is what truly makes a difference.
I also believe passion and attention to detail have played a huge role. I genuinely care about everything I do, and because of that I always want things done the right way. Sometimes that means long nights, sacrifices, or starting over until something feels perfect, but I think that level of care is what makes people connect with what we create.
Most importantly, I think staying grounded in family and purpose has helped guide every decision we’ve made. At the end of the day, this journey was never just about bread or social media — it was about creating meaningful experiences, teaching my daughter valuable life lessons, and building something together that comes from the heart.
