Today we’d like to introduce you to Winston Jackson.
Hi Winston, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
JackoJuice started during my undergraduate years at Georgetown University where I use to cook and make juices in my college dormitories. I would have friends come over and eat, play dominoes, listen to music and have fun.
One question I would always get is what type of juice is this? I think you should take this a step further because I could see customers paying for this product. I made natural juices that would help me stay away from sugary drinks such as Powerade, Gatorade, etc. While I played at the collegiate level.
Eventually, I took the leap of faith and started taking it more seriously (shout out to my cousin Oniel for pushing me to take that step) making juices for events and farmers’ markets. The name JackoJuice comes from my last name Jackson. In the Caribbean, everyone has a nickname Jacko was the main one my father gave me.
Now I ship my juices domestically in the USA, participate in farmers’ markets, working on a subscription, and a website.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Consistency is the hardest part due to my rigorous schedule. I went from juggling football, work, undergrad, and JackoJuice to now where I’m in my master’s program, military, influencer, fitness, work, and JackoJuice.
I try to incorporate JackoJuice into everything that I do because I want customers to know that JackoJuice is the juice that keeps you going. Other struggles would include assembling a team that has the same vision for the company that you do.
It sounds good at first but when given tasks a lot of people tend to fade away because of the dedication it takes.
However, I learned that slow and steady wins the race.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a cybersecurity enthusiast, I’m currently a student at Georgetown University, Washington, DC earning my master’s in cybersecurity risk management.
I am known for dancing (mostly dancehall and soca) and I am a carnivalist as well. On the side, I am a part-time options trader, I study the market and market trends as I eventually would like to become a full-time trader with my juice business as well.
I am most proud of my ambition to not give up and overcome adversity. I am very focused and set on finding different ways to achieve the desired goal.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I think the best teacher/professor/instructor that anyone can learn from is life.
