Daily Inspiration: Meet Tyler Ortiz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Ortiz

Hi Tyler, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from New York but moved down to Florida when I was young but only recently moved to Miami ! I’ve always been an “artsy” kid ever since I could pick up a pencil. All I ever wanted to do was art. Though I loved it I never saw it as something that I could actually achieve in any meaningful way. Wasn’t until people at my job started pushing me to actually try at this whole art thing that I was able to actually start creating my own style and start putting my work out there.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course there has been struggles don’t get the term starving artist by it being easy. I will say though that my ride hasn’t been the worst I would say my biggest struggle was believing in my self, because without that everything else just falls like dominoes. You don’t want to make art, you don’t want to put yourself out there, you don’t want to even try if you don’t believe in yourself.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My work is a little glimpse into my personality with my style being influenced my the media I loved as a child such as horror movies and cartoons. I also specialize in mixed media pieces and so far known for my vibrant red contrasted by an original character.
What I’m most proud of is being able to make people happy with just something I came up with at home and put on a canvas.
My style is definitely what sets me apart from others. My style is carefully crafted to be my own by hours and hours of drawing and learning.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I definitely think risks are a very important part of trying to become an artist. Personally I like to take calculated risks, I like to think about my risks for a very long time before deciding if I should do them or not.
