Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaquille Barneau.
Hi Shaquille, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m 29 going on 30 years old & I’ve been drawing since I was 2 years old. I’ve been posting my fashion illustrations on social media since 2012. Over time my work started to grow & go viral… gaining the attention of Erykah Badu, Missy Elliott, Tamera Mowry-Housley, etc.
I started posting my work on TikTok in 2021 & started branching out and gaining new followers. I plan to continue fashion illustration & also design clothing for the fashion industry. I’m looking forward to making my way to LA one day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely NOT! I planned on blowing up at 18 & now. I’m pushing 30 in two months. When I look back, I was not ready at all back then & everything happens at the right time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Fashion Illustrator/Designer/Artist.
I create the vision of the outfits because it is brought to life. I bring nostalgia through fashion that provides a light to others & I feel good. I’m proud of the body of work I have created & mostly proud of myself. I don’t follow trends, I set the tone & create.
