Daily Inspiration: Meet Shania Fair

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shania Fair.

Shania Fair

Hi Shania, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in Miami, FL, my passion to be in a creative space started with filmmaking at William H. Turner Technical Arts high school and continued at Florida Atlantic University. During my college career I developed a love for modeling and fashion photography and launched my first business focusing on fashion and beauty photography. After graduating in 2017 with a B.S. in Media and Film Studies, I started working for a company that I interned with in high school.

While working there my knowledge and love for branding and marketing grew as I helped the owner of the business launch several successful coaching programs, execute life/ business coaching retreats, virtual events, and more. I realized my true purpose and passion was helping business owners who are experts in their field but do not have professional branding and/ or an online presence to grow and scale their business. I launched my media company on my birthday in September 2020 to build upon and explore my passions that helped mold me into the entrepreneur I am today.

Now, I develop brands for entrepreneurs and capture beautiful memories for individuals through my company Mirai Digital Media. This helps them connect with their audience, earn trust, and create believers in their brand. My mission is to create genuine connections between brands and their audience through photography, social media services and brand consulting. I seek to create the most captivating images, engaging social media and brand consulting to tell their story in an authentic way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve faced many obstacles in my business that led to shifts in my direction and vision for my company. In the earlier stages of my entrepreneurial journey my main focus was fashion and beauty photography. I worked a full-time job (as a marketing manager) while running my business like most entrepreneurs do in the beginning and I realized how fulfilled I felt helping small business owners build their brand online.

I decided to shift my business and focus on branding photography and social media marketing and did so successfully for 2 years. Then, I switched jobs and became a full-time social media manager for a fashion company. I believed this was my dream job because I was reconnected with my first passion in working in the fashion industry.

About 6 months into that job I went through one of the darkest times in my personal life dealing with grief in multiple ways, relationship issues, and more. I was fired, a lot of shame came from that and it threw me into a deeper depression. I took a lot of time to myself, got closer to God and as I started to heal mentally and emotionally I put my focus back on my business.

After jumping back in I felt incomplete, I knew I could not continue with niching in branding photography after experiencing the fire I felt behind the scenes on fashion photo shoots. I prayed a lot and came to the realization that this was my business and one of the benefits of having your own business is the ability to do it your way. I took a few months to decide exactly what I wanted and relaunched as Mirai Digital Media, focusing on fashion, beauty AND branding photography. I also help purpose driven brands grow online with social media marketing.

Although the road has had its ups and downs I believe everything I went through was designed by God to bring me closer to him and allow me to stop limiting myself and pursue everything I am passionate about. Shortly after I was selected to be a featured female photographer in the Resilience Through a Women’s Lens Exhibition by the Little Haiti Cultural Complex and it was confirmation that I am on the right path and in alignment with God.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My main focus right now is being a great mother, building my business, perfecting my craft, and connecting with other creatives in Miami. Mirai Digital Media provides professional photography and social media marketing services. Through my company I want to embody the essence of elegance and style via. fashion, beauty, and branding photography while still expanding a division of my company that’s dedicated to elevating local purpose driven brands.

I help experts, entrepreneurs, and individuals by consulting with owners and creating captivating branding images, social media services, and video to tell their story in an authentic way. This helps them connect with their audience, earn trust, and create believers in their brand. Mirai Digital Media can help you create, establish, and maintain a successful brand.

I am most proud of my first exhibition feature, the Women’s History Month Exhibition: Resilience through a Woman’s Lens by the Little Haiti Cultural Complex (March 2024) that featured local female photographers and artists in the Miami, FL area. My story and my passion sets me apart from others. I am very selective in the brands I provide social media marketing services to and I have to believe in their mission to accept them as a client.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Personal: The Bible app serves as a daily resource to help me stay encouraged and focused on building my relationship with God through scriptures and prayer. I use their devotional plans to work through different aspects of my life. Me+ app helps remind me of what a healthy routine looks like and to do at least one self care activity a day whether it’s morning stretch and prayer, yoga, journaling, etc.

Business: Honeybook and Pixieset streamlines my process. A smooth SOP and organization helps keep me sane. The more creative programs I use are Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, Capcut, and Final Cut Pro.

I enjoy listening to faith based podcasts as well. I watch sermons (usually by Sarah Jakes Roberts) every morning on the drive to take my daughter to school. I also listen to Girl Just Heal, In Totality, Woman Evolve, and Earn Your Leisure on Apple Podcasts.
