Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastian Chiriboga.
Hi Sebastian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
One day, searching for the perfect home for our horse, Black Orchid, we found this beautiful land, with 17 stables, great riding space with multiple trails in the area, located in Miami, in the heart of the Redlands, and a breath-taking sunset! Our stars aligned and we knew it! Our New Adventure had begun! We found a home for Black Orchid and hence named it Orchid Stables.
We have always been passionate about Horses, and we would always daydream about how amazing it would be if one day we had our own Barn and Riding Club.
We are excited to share our story and this space with you! Whether you are a horse lover, professional or pleasure rider, want to take some pictures, hug a horse, or just want to spend some time in the Miami Countryside it’s a space for all.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We started with one horse and now have 16! Having so many horses has been a huge challenge. A lot of work comes with owning horses, they are like kids, you have to take care of them. They like to get in trouble, sometimes they all don’t get along. They each have their own personality. Horses require a lot of attention and care, and our main priority is the safety and health of the horses and our riders. You have to train them and make sure they are ground and kid safe. We have different types of horses and have to adequate their training programs.
Apart from taking care of the horses you have to manage the barn, the riding school, and constantly train your staff. Luckily, we are blessed with a great experienced team to help us along the way.
An example of daily challenges is you just finish bathing and grooming a horse for a rider, and next second they are rolling in a dirt. haha
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We have been in the real estate industry for 15 years now and Horses have always been our Happy Place.
Sebastian grew up with horses and they have been his lifelong passion and hobby.
We wanted to create a space where everyone feels welcomed and can have the opportunity to ride a horse. Where it be at the professional or beginner’s level or just casually now and then.
We love people to come and visit because we have so much to share.
We have Beginner Riding Classes and English Jumper classes for both adults and children.
We Offer Horse Experiences, where people come to see what we do. They learn about horse safety, care, feeding, grooming, and the basics of riding.
Trail Rides for experienced riders, it’s a beautiful experience going through the hidden trails of the area and come back for a picnic at our barn.
We are also an event venue where you can host your horse/pony-themed party.
Our horses have participated in photo shoots and music videos.
We customize your experiences and classes to your taste! Need something horse related we are your barn!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Connect with people in the same industry and see what are the things they are doing that have worked for them.
We have had amazing people and friends who have helped us through our journey. We have visited various barns around the US and the world and have built our idea based on the things we have identified with the most. When you do something with so much love and dedication, you will find angels who will want to support you and guide you along the way.
Being part of the “horse world” opens a lot of doors. You build lifelong relationships, travel the world, and do vast networking. Once you are involved with Horses, you become part of an amazing world and will find friends and peers you will cherish a lifetime.
