Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Patrick.
Hi Sean, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
This all started for me in Elementary school. I received my first music mp3 player from an after school counselor who recognized my passion for music. I later went on to win an award for musical performance in 5th grade, I believe from the faculty during a graduation ceremony. I remember having no idea why I won the award, but time has proven those individuals saw something in me that ultimately shined true. I went on to become a member of my high school drumline as well as performing at all the talent shows. I go by Sean Patrick or SP for short, being a shy kid growing up music gave me a platform to express what I was feeling and things I was going through in an authentic way. I gained a lot of notoriety during that time leading up to my high school graduation. Present day, I’m more focused than ever on delivering the best music possible, I have one project under my belt so far ‘Once In A Lifetime’ EP which includes some of my most successful singles like ‘Mojo’ and ‘Don’t You Recognize Me’ so with this next chapter in music and my life I’m really looking forward to raising the bar even higher for myself than I ever have before.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
About as smooth as sandpaper, have definitely had a lot of obstacles and challenges along this journey. Being is this industry you see and experience just about everything: struggle, jealousy, resentment, rejection, betrayal, and pessimism. All that’s directed at you while pursuing your goals. Safe to say it comes with the territory, I’ve come to the realization that there are a lot of people in this world dealing with their own issues that will ultimately project a lot of that negative energy and frustration to you simply because they see you succeeding to an extent. I try to distance myself from people like that all together. Self-belief has gotten me this far, a lot of people will quit on you but you gotta get up everyday and make sure you never quit on yourself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart from others is for sure my work ethic. I have always felt like the hardest worker in the room and I truly believe my journey and accomplishments are a testament to that. I am a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. I received my degree in music tech and business a couple of years back while in college, I also re-confirmed my love for the art of language and writing. All that of course has really helped me elevate my craft. I’d say my music is a mix of rhythmic rap cadence with smooth melodic flow. My goal has been to really capture something special, emotions we all feel, situations we all go through, by telling my story. On a musician’s perspective as well I dive pretty deep into the production of all my songs, sometimes just hearing the right chord progressions, synths, or melody in a song can really bring you to a great place. I’ve always love the idea of the people’s champ. I love being able to be myself in my music in every aspect. Representing something real and authentic whether it be a high confidence rap record like my song ‘Routine’ or a vulnerable heartbreak song like ‘Should’ve Been More’ I listen to those songs and hear the real me, and I know there’s other young people going through the same victories, failures, and everything in between.
Being from South Florida, there’s undoubtedly so much talent out here. I’m really proud of where I’m from and know there’s so much potential for growth out here. I am happy to be a part of it. I released some incredible music and visuals that really capture that momentum. I started seeing real growth once the videos started doing well, collectively some of my songs and videos are on track to reaching a million streams this year so that is something I’m very excited about.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am on all social media platforms as well as my own website: www.seanpatrickofficial.com. I’m very appreciative of all the support I’ve received over these past few years and I’m looking forward to the future.
My site is also home to my exclusive merchandise shop: seanpatrickofficial.com/shop.
‘Star Park’ which is also has the acronym SP is my brand. Having a brand in clothing has always been something that is important to me. For myself and my friends Star Park a feeling of community, lifestyle, and confidence to reach goals. I’ve always love stars and space and have integrated that heavily into my clothing designs, I felt it’d be a perfect way to represent reaching for higher goals.
