Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Cameron.
Hi Rachael, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My journey first started in 2020 during COVID. 2020 brought so much uncertainty, covid took over everyone’s life. We were all forced to resort to staying home, so we cooked and ate and cooked and ate some more. Worries started fleeting away. Food does so many wonders to a human’s soul. I suddenly had this epiphany that I should start a food content page.
One random night, I was watching a movie with my family while we were trying to come up with Instagram names. I thought about how all my cravings such as chicken wings, fries, ice cream, rice, and pasta would take over the little diet I start at the time. Then “Cravingtakesover” materialized. Our family always enjoyed trying new Restaurants. We are all such foodies. Food brings our family together. We enjoy eating together. We went to try this unique New Orleans-inspired restaurant called “Voodoo Bayou”.
Tiktok was still a new social media platform then the place was so distinctive that it inspired me to create a video to share just for fun. People would always ask where I went so I decided to create and post some more. One day I posted a video for “Vista” located in Miami. The Restaurant’s playful yet relaxed ambiance made it enticing for viewers. It created so much buzz I suddenly received 10k followers and gotten over 100,000 plus views and likes. The rest is history.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I enjoy social media as well as everything that comes with it such as shooting content, exploring cool places in the area, and editing videos. The challenge I find myself facing at times is keeping myself motivated to push this journey to its fullest potential. I do have a 9-5 full-time job, five days out of the week. Juggling social media and my full-time job can be stressful at times. However, it does make me happy so I do it because I genuinely love it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a food content creator who mainly explores the South Florida region. South Florida has so many Instagram-able places to check out as well as yummy eats. Good food does a lot for a person’s soul. Trying new places is exciting and delightful. I think what sets me apart from the others that are in the same biz is you can truly see the fun I have while doing this ….. and the best part is I get to share it with friends and family.
What matters most to you?
Honesty is very important to me. For me, honesty is one of the foundations of developing other positive attributes. When you’re honest, you hold yourself up to a high level of standard. When someone is honest, they will not want to have anything to do with anything immoral. Honest people are sincere and they will carry on throughout a person’s lifetime. Honesty also helps people to succeed.
As for my case, I am very honest with my daily dealings. I live by this moral code. Most of all, I am honest with myself. For me, having that level of honesty within myself makes me develop a sense of self-awareness. Awareness about myself makes me embrace and accept the reality of who I am… positive abilities, faults, weaknesses, and all. It makes me find ways to channel my energy to positive avenues instead of making that weakness an excuse to not better myself.
