Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Mendez and Mariah Morin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Wrong Miami is an ever-evolving streetwear brand, that was born as a passion project, out of the desire to create with complete creative freedom. As graphic designers, we wanted to create something for ourselves – a creative outlet with no boundaries, no expectations, and no pressure.
It was important for us to have something of our own to help us escape from the everyday life of being professional and creative. We strived to develop concepts to not only give back to ourselves, but to be able to share with our friends, and eventually extend to our community.
Since its beginnings, Wrong Miami has begun to transform into a more comprehensive concept that strives to connect to our peers by creating pieces and experiences that resonate with and unite, others like us. We hope to reach like-minded individuals who share our values and creative ambitions, most easily summed up by our mission statement:
The ‘Get It How You Live It philosophy: Don’t concern yourself with outside values, advice, or any philosophy that is not common to your lifestyle when it comes to achieving your goals.
— STAY THE COURSE.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As with any new endeavor, we ran into many challenges as we navigated the new world of apparel design.
It took a bit of trial and error to work through the production side, as we were more used to the design side of things. With each drop, however, we learn and grow to become better each time.
Another big challenge is having to play all the roles in the company. We are still in the stage of self-fulfilling orders, managing communications, and all the ins and outs of running a small business.
It’s definitely a challenge, but it feels good to put so much into something you love doing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Graphic Designers from an agency background and co-founders of Lofi Creative Studio and Wrong Miami.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The biggest lesson we take from all the obstacles is that you can really never stop learning and growing, make sure you can always evolve and not be discouraged if your success does not go in a straight line up.
Every challenge should be used as a lesson.
