Daily Inspiration: Meet Nina Minervini

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Minervini.

Hi Nina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in South Florida, where I spent many years studying ballet and attended the School of the Arts in West Palm Beach. Performing on stage played a large role in my early life and helped shape my appreciation for communication, expression, and discipline. After graduating, I attended college and worked at my father’s restaurant before deciding to travel abroad.

I moved to South Korea to teach English, where I discovered how much I loved helping people improve their language skills and gain confidence in communication. After a short period in Japan, I returned to the United States with a clear interest in language and rehabilitation, which led me to pursue a master’s degree in speech-language pathology.

Over the years, I worked in a variety of clinical settings and treated hundreds of patients with diverse communication needs. Through this experience, I saw how difficult it can be for many individuals to access consistent care. This ultimately led me to start my own practice, focused on providing in-home speech therapy for patients who have difficulty traveling to clinics.

Today, I find great fulfillment not only in working directly with patients, but also in creating educational materials for caregivers and families. This includes resources on my website as well as my first published activity book, Hidden Therapy, which is designed to support communication between caregivers and the people they care for.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall, the journey has been deeply rewarding, but it has not been without its challenges. Staying current with the latest advances in evidence based care requires ongoing learning and commitment, but I find that process genuinely exciting. I have been fortunate to have supportive colleagues and mentors along the way, which has made a meaningful difference.

One of the more practical challenges was navigating the process of private billing and setting up the business side of my practice. While that learning curve required time and patience, it ultimately strengthened my understanding of how to build a sustainable practice that truly serves patients. I am excited to continue growing, learning, and seeing where this path leads.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in stroke recovery, Parkinson’s disease, and dysphagia, including swallowing disorders. My work spans the full range of speech and language therapy, but what I enjoy most is helping patients make meaningful progress toward a better quality of life. That often includes rebuilding speech and communication skills, strengthening cognitive abilities, and regaining confidence in everyday interactions with friends, family, and coworkers.

Much of my work focuses on helping patients implement practical strategies they can use in real life, whether that means returning to work without anxiety about keeping up, re engaging socially, or simply feeling more comfortable expressing themselves. Seeing patients reconnect with the people and activities that matter to them is tremendously rewarding.

I am proud of the trust patients place in me. In clinic settings, I often maintained a very full schedule, which I believe reflects strong patient engagement and continuity of care. I am known for being highly punctual, though I will sometimes extend sessions when meaningful progress is happening. Finding the right balance is an ongoing challenge.

What sets me apart is a strong commitment to evidence based practice and staying current with the latest research and clinical approaches. That said, speech language pathology is filled with dedicated professionals who genuinely care about their patients. I also make a point to accommodate as many individuals as possible through in home care, which means spending a lot of time traveling throughout Palm Beach County to meet patients where they are.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
In my professional life, happiness comes from seeing patients have meaningful breakthroughs, especially when they begin to understand why the work matters and commit to it consistently. Watching that effort translate into real progress is incredibly fulfilling.

In my personal life, I find joy in simple things like good food, time at the beach, and relaxing after a long day with my boyfriend and my cat, Milo. Recently, coming home to a Christmas tree in the living room was a particularly happy moment and a wonderful way to start the holiday season.
