Daily Inspiration: Meet Natalie Asencio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Asencio.

Hi Natalie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to help people in some way. I went to college and earned my psychology degree with the intention of becoming a mental health therapist.

Wellness was always present in my life in different forms. My best friend and I used to love doing yoga together, but after she moved away, I slowly fell out of that routine. Later on, during a period of my life where I felt overwhelmed and disorganized, I realized I needed something that would help me slow down and reconnect with myself.

One day, I decided to take a stretch class at a Pilates studio. I had never really heard much about Pilates before, but I instantly fell in love with the environment, the energy, and the way it made me feel. The classes challenged me physically and mentally, and for the first time in my life, working out became something I genuinely looked forward to. I went from being someone who would sleep in until 1 PM to waking up at 6 AM excited to make it to a 7 AM Pilates class.

What really stood out to me was the sense of community. The women I met through Pilates were inspiring, supportive, and motivating, and I felt like I truly belonged. Becoming an instructor honestly was never part of the plan at first. One day I happened to come across a Pilates teacher training program on Instagram that was nearby, and after going back and forth with myself for about a week, I decided to fully go for it.

Since then, Pilates has completely changed my life. It has become more than just movement to me, it’s a way to help people feel stronger, more connected to themselves, and more confident both physically and mentally.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Right after I signed up for teacher training, I remember feeling extremely anxious and full of self doubt. Before Pilates, I was never someone who naturally loved working out, so part of me questioned whether I was truly capable of building a career in this space. I also worried about Pilates becoming oversaturated and wondered if anyone would even be willing to give a brand new instructor like me a chance.

Public speaking was another huge challenge for me. I was the kind of girl in high school who hated giving two minute presentations in front of the class, so the idea of teaching a 50 minute to one hour Pilates class felt terrifying at first. During my graduation test out, I remember feeling incredibly insecure and convincing myself that I had done a terrible job, even though people around me were saying positive things.

After graduation, I actually avoided practicing for about two weeks because I was so in my head about it. Eventually, I realized that the only way I was going to grow was by putting myself out there, so I decided to audition at a studio in Wynwood named Palmi + Sano. Thankfully, it went really well, and that experience gave me the confidence to keep going.

Since then, with a lot of practice, patience, and consistency, I’ve fallen even more in love with both Pilates and teaching. Seeing how students feel after class brings me so much joy. Knowing that I can help people feel stronger, more confident, and more connected to themselves reminds me why I started in the first place. It truly feels like I’m on the right path, and I’m excited to continue growing and reaching more people through wellness and movement.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Pilates instructor based in Miami, and I specialize in creating classes and wellness experiences that help people feel both physically and mentally stronger. While movement is a huge part of what I do, I also care deeply about the emotional side of wellness and creating spaces where people feel comfortable, supported, and confident.

I’m especially passionate about community centered wellness events that bring women together through Pilates, mindfulness, journaling, and connection. My goal is always for people to leave feeling refreshed, grounded, and more in tune with themselves.

I think what sets me apart is the energy and intention I bring into my classes and events. I genuinely care about how people feel when they walk into a room with me. I want wellness to feel welcoming and uplifting rather than intimidating. I also think my background in psychology has shaped the way I connect with people and approach teaching.

What I’m most proud of is stepping outside of my comfort zone and building something that truly aligns with who I am. Teaching used to terrify me, and now it has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. Seeing students leave class feeling happier, stronger, and more confident is the most rewarding part of what I do.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
It’s honestly hard for me to choose just one favorite childhood memory because I was very sentimental growing up, and a lot of moments stayed with me. If I had to choose, I’d say some of my favorite memories were the simple ones, spending time with people I loved, laughing until my stomach hurt, and feeling completely present and carefree.

Looking back now, I think those moments shaped a lot of who I am today. They taught me how important connection, comfort, and community are, which is something I now try to create for other people through wellness and Pilates.
