Today we’d like to introduce you to MytyMyke.
Hi MytyMyke, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started DJing back in high school, playing house parties, school dances, and proms. At first it was just a passion for music and creating a fun atmosphere, but over time I realized I really loved the energy of bringing people together through music.
As I gained more experience, I started doing college parties and eventually worked my way into the nightclub scene in downtown San Jose. That helped me grow a lot as a DJ because I learned how to read different crowds, adapt quickly, and develop my own style.
From there, I expanded into weddings and corporate events, which opened up a whole different side of the industry for me. Those events taught me how important professionalism, versatility, and creating memorable experiences are.
Today, I’m fortunate to be able to do a mix of nightclubs, weddings, and corporate events. Each type of event is different, and that variety is what keeps me inspired and motivated to keep growing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There were years where things were really busy, and other years where work was a lot slower. One of the biggest lessons I learned is that you can’t stay comfortable in this industry — you always have to keep growing, networking, and finding new opportunities.
A lot of success as a DJ happens outside of just playing music. Building relationships, staying consistent, adapting to trends, and maintaining a good reputation all play a huge role. There were times where I had to push myself out of my comfort zone, take on different types of events, and constantly reinvent myself to keep moving forward.
But those challenges helped me grow both professionally and personally, and they’re a big part of what got me to where I am today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a DJ who specializes in weddings and corporate events, while also staying active in the nightclub scene. Outside of the private event space, I specialize in open format DJing, which allows me to play a wide variety of genres and adapt to different crowds and environments. One night you might find me playing Afro house and EDM, and another night I’m mixing hip hop, R&B, and throwbacks.
What I’m most proud of is being able to build a career that balances both the nightlife and private event worlds. Those are two very different environments, and being able to succeed in both has helped me become a more versatile and well-rounded DJ.
I think what sets me apart is my ability to read a room and create the right energy for any type of crowd. Whether it’s a wedding, a corporate event, or a packed nightclub, I focus on creating an experience that feels authentic, memorable, and tailored to the audience in front of me.
How do you think about luck?
I’d say luck has definitely played a role in my journey, and I feel very fortunate to be where I am today in my career. A big part of that was being able to meet the right people, build genuine connections, and be given opportunities to prove myself.
At the same time, I think luck only takes you so far. You still have to be prepared when opportunities come your way. A lot of the growth in my career came from staying consistent, working hard, and building relationships over time.
I’ve also learned that in this industry, one connection can completely change your path. Being around supportive people who believed in me and gave me opportunities helped open a lot of doors that shaped where I am today.
