Daily Inspiration: Meet Mia Morris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Morris.

Hi Mia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a hairstylist since 2012, and my journey has taken me across four different states — each time rebuilding my business from the ground up. Along the way, I discovered that what I love most about doing hair isn’t just the artistry itself, but the people. Every guest in my chair brings a story, a spark, and a connection that inspires me daily.

After years of dreaming, I wanted to create a space where truly talented artists could flourish and where clients would feel seen, valued, and cared for in the way they deserve. That vision became reality with the opening of our salon this past March — and the response has been incredible. We’ve been overwhelmed by the love, loyalty, and support from our community, and it’s a constant reminder of why I started this journey in the first place.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think as humans, we all have moments of doubt. For the longest time, I told myself, “You have two young kids — you can’t possibly run a business.” But I’ve learned that those are exactly the moments when you have to push forward. Building this salon has been about more than just creating a beautiful space; it’s been about showing my children that hard work, passion, and dedication to your craft truly pay off. This has been a family endeavor from the very beginning, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve created together.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I come from an art background with a BFA in Painting, and that foundation has shaped everything I do. The principles of color theory I studied on canvas now directly translate to hair — blending tones, creating dimension, and bringing each client’s vision to life. Beyond the art itself, I’ve always valued genuine relationships. That passion for people and creativity inspired me to open a salon filled with talented artists who share the same dedication and love for the craft. I’m incredibly proud to have built a space where both our artists and our clients feel at home the moment they walk through the door.

Any big plans?
I’m just getting started with the salon, but my vision reaches far beyond the walls of our space. I’m excited to give back to the community that’s already given us so much support — by hosting educational events, fostering growth, and welcoming new talent who are still searching for their creative home. My goal is for Color House Collective to become a true staple in the community — a place where artistry, education, and connection come together to inspire everyone who walks through our doors.
