Today we’d like to introduce you to Mel Maranon.
Hi Mel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I went through a lot from a young age and didn’t know how to work through the trauma I’d experienced.
So I lost my way in my twenties, and got into drugs pretty heavily.
I was able to drop the substances and focus on my healing journey at the age of 30 and art played a huge part.
I’m a mother to the kindest, sweetest, most beautiful girl named Mikaela- she’s my motivation for turning my life around and starting Sultry Artistry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I decided to get clean, the doctors misdiagnosed me with several different mental illnesses.
I spent many years over medicated and a shell of the person I am – this was AFTER I overcame my addiction.
Finally, I met a few doctors that were able to correctly diagnose me with skin lupus and ADHD.
Also, I was in a car accident that nearly wiped my memory clean in 2019.
After that my sole focus was to heal my mind and body.
I’ve been doing a lot better these last few years. However, Mikaela’s dad passed last year out of the blue, so now I’m trying to help my kid heal as best as I can.
It hasn’t been smooth sailing, but I’ve learned to use physical movement, holistic medicine, art/music, connection and spirituality to get me through the hardest of times and I get to pay it forward with my business.

We specialize in Acrylic Pour Art and Mixed Media.

Sultry Artistry brings all painting supplies/tables and we support ALL lifestyles (sober, elder, LGBTQIA+)
We can host a party of 10 or more at your house or partner with a local venue that has enough space (breweries, large restaurants etc).
Also, we offer watercolor paint parties for younger children and anyone who doesn’t want to make a splash.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I truly enjoy making people feel special and helping others.
I absolutely love it when my clients rave about the art they purchased or the paint party we hosted for them.
For me, it’s about the quality of service I can provide and helping people be fully immersed in the present moment.
A lot of us are in our heads a lot of the time, thinking about the past or future but the present moment is all we really have and that’s where the magic happens!
