Today we’d like to introduce you to Mauricio Arango.
Hi Mauricio, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Colombia, from a very young age, I learned to play the accordion, and then I entered the university to study music and I also learned to play the piano. I was the main accordionist of some groups in Colombia, among those groups is one that is very famous and known as it is (Los Chiches Vallenatos) in which I was 6 years and recorded several songs that became national and international successes.
Some of those songs were, (Stay with Me, I ask you loudly, Tell Him, forgive me, among others) I traveled through many countries in Latin America, Europe, Central America, and the United States. In 2014, he decided to come to live in the United States more precisely in Miami Fl, where I had the honor of obtaining my first talent visa (O1) a visa that only people with extraordinary abilities acquire.
To this day, I have already obtained 3 O1 visas and 4 work visas in the United States where I began to perform shows with various artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Fonseca, and Luis Coronel, among other artists, 2017, he recorded my first work musical as a soloist, which is called (the joy of my accordion) a musical album that mixes Colombian culture with jazz culture, it was a musical album with very good comments by music critic.
I am currently working on my second music album which is accordion jazz, taking all the best and most famous jazz standards and playing them on the accordion, aside from that I continue to do a lot of music tours here in the United States with artists from Colombia and elsewhere, and I’m also producing various albums by other artists. I will continue working hard for Colombian music in this great country like the United States and I will continue with new projects and new goals.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional musician and I play accordion professionally, and I am proud to be a pioneer in playing jazz on the diatonic accordion since there are currently accordionists in the world who play jazz on a diatonic accordion.
What do you think about happiness?
It makes me happy mainly about God and the family because I think that the most important thing that human beings can have is God in their life and the family, it also makes me happy to be a musician, to travel, and to eat a good meal.
