Daily Inspiration: Meet Mariana Umaña

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariana Umaña.

Hi Mariana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since I was little, I have always loved talking, communicating and connecting with all kinds of people. About five / six years ago I decided to start a blog, in the beginning it was a travel blog in the US but little by little it was transforming into what it is today. Now I talk about everything a bit: fashion, lifestyle, product reviews, real motherhood and much more! Four years ago my mother died, a fact that deeply impacted me and totally changed my way of seeing life: now I believe in living only today, enjoying the present moment to the fullest and not leaving anything for later. This philosophy has positively affected my work and, obviously, my life!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a road with ups and downs. The time of my mother’s death was without a doubt a very hard time, the worst of my life, but now I am married, I have a beautiful family and I am Mia’s mother, my baby of almost two years. Writing on my blog, having an active profile on social networks and having a beautiful community of followers has certainly helped me a lot! However, I have dealt with criticism, fear, insecurities and negative opinions from people, but I have always followed my path and done what I believed best for myself and my family, for which I am very grateful! All the challenges that I have lived have led me to be who I am today!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Right now I identify myself as a mom and a blogger, in that order! I stand out for being an honest blogger, I talk about real motherhood and I teach that not always everything is as beautiful as it is painted and that is fine! I teach my followers to live from day to day, to enjoy today, and I love motivating women and mothers to do whatever they want to do, without anything stopping them.

I am very proud of my family, of all the things that I have overcome and of what I have today. I feel so grateful!

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Do not give up. Keep trying and I promise you will make it. Do not listen to the opinions of everyone, rather listen to your intuition and the voice of your heart, deep down you already know what to do!
