Today we’d like to introduce you to LeTroy Gardner.
Hi LeTroy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a self-made broadcaster from Beaufort, South Carolina, with a lifelong passion for radio, music, and storytelling. My journey began with a high school internship at a local TV station and continued at Winthrop University, where I hosted campus shows including The Dungeon and The Bedroom. During my senior year, a simple CD project sparked the creation of The Good Ole Boys Radio Show, which grew into a multiregional platform reaching audiences across the U.S. and internationally. In 2020, I launched Stop, Look & Listen, a video podcast focused on culture, creativity, and personal transformation, featuring guests such as Phylicia Rashad, Renee Montgomery, Eric Roberson, and Dawn Robinson. Today, I continue to create platforms that inform, inspire, and connect audiences through authentic storytelling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has definitely not been a smooth road. Building Fourcast Media from the ground up meant learning how to compete as a mom-and-pop operation in an industry dominated by much larger companies with bigger budgets, teams, and resources. There were times when simply keeping the lights on, creating consistently, and finding ways to grow felt like a battle. Along the way, I also experienced creative burnout. When something you love becomes your business, it can sometimes be difficult to separate the passion from the pressure. At the same time, the media industry was rapidly evolving, with social media changing how content is created, distributed, discovered, and monetized. I had to constantly adapt without losing the authenticity that made me want to create in the first place. I eventually took my talents into other industries, including tech, where I gained valuable experience and expanded my skill set, but I also found myself feeling creatively stifled at times. Those experiences taught me that my creativity is not just something I do; it is a major part of who I am. The challenges, setbacks, and detours have ultimately helped me better understand the kind of storyteller, producer, and creator I want to be.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a broadcaster, producer, host, and storyteller who has spent more than 16 years challenging conventional media with my three partners on The Good Ole Boys Radio Show. We jokingly call ourselves “The Male Version of The View,” but at the heart of what I do is storytelling and helping bring other people’s creative visions to life. I love taking another host’s dream and turning it into a finished production, whether it’s in tech, sports, financial planning, entrepreneurship, or legal marketing. I can handle the entire process from concept and project management to production and distribution, or I can simply step behind the microphone and share the journeys of fascinating people from all walks of life. And nothing brings me more joy than sitting across from the music legends whose songs created so many memories for me growing up and getting the opportunity to hear and share their stories.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice is to take advantage of the opportunities this generation has that I didn’t have when I was starting out. You can sharpen your skills, learn new tools, and build an audience without ever leaving your bedroom. Play with everything. Get comfortable using AI, learn video production, get in front of the camera, and understand how content works across different platforms. The jobs in media may be disappearing in the traditional forms we recognize, but new opportunities are emerging for multimedia content managers, content creators, social media managers, and digital storytellers. Be willing to adapt, never stop learning, and most importantly, never stop building your own platform. You don’t have to wait for someone to give you an opportunity. The world is literally at your fingertips.
