Daily Inspiration: Meet Laura Aguiar Diaz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Aguiar Diaz.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the United States with my family when I was two years old. We spent several months in a refugee camp at Guantánamo Bay before beginning a new life in America. Watching my parents rebuild from the ground up taught me resilience, hard work, and the value of opportunity from a very young age.

Those experiences shaped my passion for communication, community, and creating opportunities for others. I earned my degree in English Literature from Florida International University, where I developed a love for storytelling and strategic communication. Since then, I’ve built a career in marketing, branding, and community engagement, helping organizations connect with people through meaningful campaigns, events, and digital content.

Today, I serve as the Community Lending Marketing Manager for Guild Mortgage, where I lead national marketing initiatives focused on expanding access to homeownership through education, partnerships, and outreach. My work combines creativity with purpose, allowing me to support communities while collaborating with housing advocates, nonprofit organizations, and industry leaders across the country.

Outside of work, I’m a wife, mother, avid reader, and lifelong learner. I believe every challenge has shaped who I am, and I’m passionate about using my experiences to encourage others, build meaningful relationships, and create work that has a lasting impact

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My path hasn’t been linear. As the daughter of immigrants, I grew up understanding the value of hard work and perseverance. Throughout my career, I’ve had to prove myself, learn new skills quickly, and balance ambitious professional goals with major life changes, including becoming a mother. There were moments when I questioned whether I could do it all, but those experiences taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of asking for help when needed. Today, those challenges are some of my greatest strengths because they’ve shaped the way I lead, connect with others, and approach every opportunity.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work in marketing and community engagement within the mortgage industry, where I specialize in connecting people with the resources and education they need to achieve homeownership. My role combines strategic marketing, event planning, content creation, branding, and relationship building on a national level. I develop campaigns, manage social media, produce educational events and webinars, and create content that helps make the homebuying process more approachable—particularly for first-time homebuyers and underserved communities.

What I’m most proud of is being able to blend creativity with purpose. Whether I’m organizing large-scale community initiatives, producing educational resources, or building marketing strategies from the ground up, my goal is always to create something that genuinely helps people. I’m known for taking ideas from concept to execution, finding creative solutions to complex problems, and bringing people together around a common mission.

What sets me apart is my ability to think both strategically and creatively. I can analyze data and build marketing plans while also designing graphics, producing videos, writing content, and telling stories that resonate with people. I thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy wearing many hats, and believe that the best marketing is built on authenticity, education, and meaningful human connection.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was naturally curious and loved storytelling. I was drawn to theater, especially costume design, creating characters, and putting on masks. I enjoyed using creativity and imagination to express myself, and I was always excited to learn new things and explore different perspectives
