Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristine Cumberbatch.
Hi Kristine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a self taught makeup artist from Staten Island, that has relocated to the Bronx. My focus is on educating individuals about beauty products, cosmetics and makeup techniques virtually. I am currently working on visibility and overall getting my name out there.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Are there any lessons on a smooth road? (Ha, ha) My road has not been smooth however, it has been fruitful with knowledge. My biggest struggle was to understand that I’m a unique individual with big ideas. In order to bring forth such ideas, I must be willing to forge my own path.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been in the beauty industry for a little over 14 years. I originally started out doing hair but pivoted due to a greater interest in makeup. I currently own a makeup business that specializes in and provides on location beauty services for special occasions, photo shoots, fashion shows and private makeup lessons. Every service that I provide is customized to the clients needs and is offered virtually. I am known for the skin like finish that I achieve in my makeup applications. I believe that your skin is number one with or without makeup. I am most proud of my ability to bring my clients’ visions to life. I always make my clients look like themselves with makeup, they’re already beautiful, I just enhance it.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The amount of unique people, places, and cultures is what I like the best about our city. However, the amount of differences is often what divides us from what an open minded conversation can mend.
