Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Pastukhova.
Hi Kristina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story has been going on for more than ten years already. I remember being in my final years of school and knowing that I wanted a public-facing profession, so I chose journalism. And now I understand that it was the right choice.
There have been many different periods in my life. I started in fashion, worked at a PR agency, collaborated with brands and modeling agencies, and also did a little bit of modeling myself — though that was more of a hobby, nothing professional.
I also created my own brands, and now I’ve moved into sports journalism. I feel that all of these experiences and events have shaped me. I truly enjoy traveling as well. I’ve already visited 46 countries, and I’m definitely not planning to stop.
All of this has greatly expanded my worldview and now also helps me professionally, because I get invited to different events not only across Europe, but around the world. Of course, there’s still a lot of room to grow.
And I believe you shouldn’t become too fixated on just one thing. That’s why I think that in the future I’ll return to the idea of business as well, but it will exist alongside journalism.
Life is incredibly interesting — the most important thing is learning how to notice those moments and truly enjoy them.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think I’ve realized one thing: no journey is ever easy, especially when it comes to finding yourself and achieving self-realization.
I studied journalism and have always worked in this field. But there were periods when I was also searching for myself in business: I opened a small online store, launched my own brand, and thought about developing other projects.
And now I’ve returned to journalism again, although I changed the direction of my work a little. And for the first time in a long while, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
At the same time, the idea of creating my own business still hasn’t left me. And I believe that one day I will definitely make it happen.
So keep trying, keep searching for yourself, don’t be afraid to change directions, and never stay stuck in one place. Sometimes it’s exactly through these experiences that we discover what truly belongs to us.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As I mentioned earlier, I’m a journalist. Right now I work in sports, but I have never called myself a sports journalist, and I probably never will — I’m simply a journalist.
That’s why my range of interests is much broader. I can work in completely different fields: раньше it was fashion, now it’s sports.
And you know, probably the biggest thing that makes me different from others is that I have never compared myself to anyone else. Honestly, that’s true. Maybe the only time was when I was younger and deciding to study journalism — back then I looked at famous Ukrainian TV personalities and thought, “Wow.”
But as I grew older, I stopped comparing myself to other people. The only person you should compare yourself to is who you were yesterday.
And I think that’s probably my biggest advantage, because it allows me to communicate with people on an equal level. I never feel like, “Oh my God, this person is a huge star.”
I think my experience of living abroad, communicating with very different people, and being involved in various projects has helped me a lot with that. Because of this, I can build conversations naturally and equally, with a more friendly and open approach.
Of course, I still understand professional boundaries, but this attitude has definitely helped me a lot in my career.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned on my journey is to never be afraid and to believe in my own strength.
