Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Diego Viteri.
Hi Juan Diego, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started at The Hungry Post as an intern in 2021. It was literally my first work experience. Fast forward to 2024, I got the opportunity to become their resident DJ, playing in both Miami and New York, just at a moment when they were thinking about expanding a lot. It was a time where I could bring my network and my experience as a DJ to help refine the sound that now defines The Hungry Post, creating a style that can be replicated across different cities and events no matter the location. What started as something really small ended up becoming a huge collaboration that now spans six or seven cities in the U.S. and another four or five internationally, in Europe and Latin America.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a completely smooth road. Playing in different cities and opening new markets while keeping the essence of the party and the music style consistent is definitely challenging because not every place responds the same way. But I think it was an amazing opportunity to grow as a DJ and learn how to adapt to different audiences and cities, while still keeping the core of the brand alive. The goal has always been to translate that essence in every location so it becomes something people recognize, almost like it becomes an adjective—like a type of party or a style of music that people immediately associate with our brand, with The Hungry Post, and the sound that I and the other DJs have been able to implement
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My name is Juan Diego Viteri (VITÉRI). I’m a DJ and producer from Ecuador, now based in Miami. Among many other shows and projects I do under my personal brand, I’m the resident DJ for The Hungry Post, which is one of the most active and well-known parties and brands in Miami, and now also in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and internationally.
I would say what sets me apart from other DJs and producers, not just in Miami but also in Ecuador and other cities, is my background in design. My artistic project has always been about combining my love for design, art, fashion, and aesthetics with my music. It’s something that comes very naturally to me, and I’ve been able to implement it really well, creating a brand that feels professional and put together. Even though I still consider myself an up-and-coming DJ, I’ve been able to offer a project that shows a clear identity and vision
How do you think about luck?
I think luck is 100% real, and it’s definitely something you need to grow and expand in the music and entertainment industry. That said, I believe luck really comes into play when you put yourself in situations where you can be lucky. What I mean is, if you don’t push yourself and put yourself in places where growth is possible, luck alone can only take you so far. You have to create the opportunities for luck actually to work in your favor
